Nozque City, Nesiphillip―1825
Annabella Fangclaw was on her teenage years, despite her being one hundred and twenty years old. For her butler, however, he was forty five, and the creases on his face showed his aging. However, he still had enough energy to run away from the creatures giving chase. He was carrying a broadsword, but it felt light to him. His muscles allowed him to carry the sword with ease, while holding onto Annabella’s hand, the other clutched on a book. The two of them ran away from a mansion ahead of them, as they entered through the forest. Before they went deep into the woods, the Hisnap Vampires were already caught up to them; their swords swiped sideways, some downwards, causing the butler to do a barrel roll. Annabella had been trained in the ways of self defense, parrying their attacks, while her butler had the desire to flee.
However, it was unbecoming for a butler to abandon his mistress, who endeavored to defend not only her, but her human servant from the supernatural beings. There was only one problem―he was too fatigued to get up and fight. Suddenly, a Nesiphilio lunged at the Hisnapians, his rapier drawn, and thrusting the blade into one of their chests. The Vampire had turned into ashes. His two protégés circled around him cautiously. From nowhere, another Nesiphilio stormed in, beheading the second protégé with his rapier. The last one, intimidated, slowly backed away, until he felt an object pointed at his back. He turned around, to see that another Nesiphilio had pointed a pistol point blank at his chest.
The gun wielder smiled, pulled the trigger, and killed the Vampire with the bullet in his heart, black ashes flying away like particles. The male lead sheathed his rapier, his brother done the same, while the third brother stowed his pistol into his coat. Annabella flushed with red at how handsome the brothers looked. The one who had saved her―he had medium sized hair, his bangs reaching to his chin. His brown left eye was visible, but his other eye was blocked by the bangs. The second brother’s hair was longer, a ponytail visible behind him. The third had the shortest hair, but his moon-shaped spectacles made him seem like a scholar.
They all wore Euroean frock coats, a white vest shirt inside it. Their pants were made of silk and their shoes made of leather. Their hands were covered by a white glove, although the blood from the Vampires they killed was visible on their gloves. The lead brother examined Annabella, saying in a half Nesiphil half British accent, “How do you do, Ms. Annabella.”
“I’m fine,” Annabella replied, surprised that they could speak English.
“I was worried you two weren’t going to escape from the mansion.”
“That used to be our mansion as well, until those Hisnap bastards took over,” The second brother hissed.
“Well, I’m glad you two are safe,” The oldest brother said, spotting the book on her hand. “I trust that is the Journal of Cain?”
“Judging from the ancient Hebrew designs, it is indeed his journal,” Annabella said, looking into her book. “This should help me figure out what I am.”
“Well, bring it with us. We should return to Noldon.”
Annabella woke up with a start, thankful her dream wasn’t a nightmare. It was a relieving dream of an adventure with her previous butler, but she couldn’t recall the three Nesiphilios who saved them. The book she saw in her dream seemed familiar. She underwent the same routine, descended down the stairs, and saw Serastios and King conversing with one another. Charlotte walked towards her room to wake her, but to see Annabella had awoken, she merely bowed and smiled. King and Serastios leaped from the couch and ran towards her, and once they were close to her, King and Serastios stopped, King’s arms crossed. She gazed from Charlotte, King, and Serastios, before returning to her room and picking up her rapier from her table.
