Regulus woke up on his side of the bed, the covers kicked off. He didn't even glance at his old mattress on the floor. It wasn't like he was going to use it anymore.

Early morning sunlight filtered through the window, casting a golden glow over the room. His hand rested near James' but they weren't touching anymore.

Regulus sat up and got out of bed, walking sleepily to the bathroom. He splashed some cold water over his face, before brushing his teeth and then turning the shower on. Regulus stepped in and let the hot water run down over his shoulders. He stayed still, head against the wall and breathing heavily. His mind took him back to Grimmauld Place and the long showers he would take to avoid confrontation with his mother. Just letting the water hit his skin and comfort him.

Slowly coming out of the peace, Regulus stood up properly and started to wash his hair. He didn't want to waste the water even though his mother and father never cared about that. But then again, money was never an issue with them.

After washing his body and then placing all the bottles back in a neat row, Regulus stepped out of the shower and dried himself off. He got dressed in a fresh set of clothes that he brought and then ran a hand through his hair. There was a knock at the door and then an impatient yell. "Hurry up Regulus! I need the toilet."

Sighing, Regulus opened the door and Sirius pushed past him quickly. Regulus turned back to the mirror and continued sorting out his hair. He heard the flush of the toilet and the Sirius appeared in front of him again.

"You're up pretty early?"

"And you probably woke the whole house up with your knocking."

"Everyone is already awake." Sirius came and stood next to him and grabbed a hair comb from the side. He started to brush through the black strands and Regulus watched him, deep in thought.

"Hey..." Regulus looked down to the sink and fiddled with his fingers. "I know we aren't really that close or anything but... can I talk to you about something?"

Sirius put the brush down and turned to his brother. "Yeah, sure. What's up?"

Regulus was unsure and stayed silent for a minute. "I think... I think I like James."

It took a few moments before Sirius spoke up and said anything. "I was kind of expecting that," he smiled.

Regulus was confused. "You were?"

"I mean, yeah. I'm not blind. And that day in the pool... Reg, I would have to be a complete idiot not to see how close you two were."

"Oh."

Sirius laughed and then started brushing his hair again. "So, now I know you have eyes on James, what are you going to do about it?"

"That's the thing. I don't really know what to to do. I don't even know how I actually feel."

"Do you want some advice?" Regulus nodded. "Talk to him about it. I don't know what happened between you, but tell him how you feel and ask him. We both know that James is a nice guy. And I think he really cares about you, Reg."

"Yeah. Okay."

Regulus peered into the mirror and rubbed under his eyes with his hands. Sirius noticed the red marks and pulled him back by the shoulder. "What happened?"

Regulus cursed for not bandaging them again. "I... opened some messages from mother the other night."

"Oh... that's what the bang was then."

"Yeah. I'm okay, though. James, um, helped me." Sirius nodded and then let go of his shoulder. "If she says anything again, come to me alright?"

"She won't. I smashed the phone."
