<a month later> <7pm>

(Zach) Zach runs downstairs and into the kitchen where the rest of his family was.

"Hey Luke I think I left my phone at the diner. Can I go get it?" He said.

"Okay but hurry back please." Luke replied.

It cuts to showing Zach running out of the house. It then cuts to him reaching Luke's.

He slows his pace as he gets closer to the door. He furrows his brows as he sees that the lights are on. Luke never forgets to turn the lights off. He opens the door and walks in shutting it behind him. He walks towards the back and cautiously makes his way up the stairs.

As he got closer he heard someone opening and closing drawers. Once he reaches the door he reaches for the door handle and turns it slowly as he pushes the door open.

He steps cautiously into the apartment and furrows his eyebrows in confusion.

"Jess?"

"Hey." He replies as he sifts through a kitchen drawer.

"What are you doing?" Zach asks him.

"Luke called and told me Gypsy had finished repairing my car. And he neglected to tell me where he put the damn keys." He finished his sentence as he slammed the drawer shut.

Jess turns around and sees Zach crouched down by the safe entering the code. He then opens the safe and sees the keys. He reaches in and grabs them and holds them out for Jess to see before shutting the safe and locking it.

"Huh." Jess says in his Jess tone.

Zach stands up and walks over to Jess and hands them over to him.

"Why thank you."

"Yeah." Zach replies a little coldly.

"What?" Jess said, noticing Zach's tone.

Zach shrugged.

Jess sighed. "Look I'm sorry I left like I did and I get if you're still mad." He said.

Zach looked him in the eye. "I'm not mad. I was never mad it's just..."

There was a pause.

"I'm tired of people walking out of my life."

Jess nods. "I get it."

"So... are you staying or are you leaving once you get your car?" Zach asked.

"I'll probably stick around for a few days then head back to new york." He replies.

"Okay." Zach nodded.

<intro cuts in>

(Zach) "So he's back in town?" Dean says as he spins around in his desk chair to face Zach who was sitting on his bed.

"Pretty much."

"Why? I thought he hated this place."

Zach shrugs. "He's probably staying for Luke."

"Right. For his uncle that took him in that he was an absolute jerk to? I don't think so."

(Zoey) Zoey rushes down the hall as the one minute bell rings.

She then turns the corner and bumps into someone and the person crashes to the ground dropping their things. Zoey stops and turns around and gets on the floor to help the guy with his things.

"I am so so sorry." She apologized.

"No worries." The guy said as he finished collecting his things. They both stood up and faced each other.

"Hey what's your name?" She asked.

"Dave. Rogalski." He replied.

She smiled. "Oh you're Lane's boyfriend. I'm Zoey."

Dave smiled. "And your Zach's girlfriend."

The final bell rang.

"We should probably get to class." He said.

"Right." She said in realization. They both parted ways.

(Rory) Rory walks into the bookstore after school.

She smiles at Andrew then makes her way to the back. When she turns the corner she stops in her tracks when she sees Jess. Her expression completely changes and she appears startled.

Jess looks up from his book and looks at her with surprised eyes that quickly turned to sorrow.

She immediately turns around and Jess lets out a sigh as he hears the door open then close.

<Lane's room>

"And he was just sitting there?" Lane asked.

"Yeah. He was just there and I was so caught off guard that I just stood there like a complete idiot not saying anything." Rory said as she paced back and forth while Lane stood by her desk.

Lane approached Rory. "Hey." She said as she grabbed a gentle hold of Rory's arms. "It's going to be okay."

"You don't know that."

"But I do. I know that in some way everything is going to turn out fine."

"Fine? That's worse than okay." Rory said as she started to panic.

"Okay then think about it this way. He's probably just here for his car and then he'll be on his mary way in the next day or two."

Rory nods. "You're right. I mean he has to leave at some point right? He doesn't live here, he doesn't even like it here. And he broke him and Luke's agreement so he can't stay with him." She says.

Lane smiles. "Feel better now?"

Rory smiled. "Much better."

<7pm>

<<no pov>>

Zoey and Zach walk out of Miss Patty's after a town meeting.

"So I have this idea." She says as they reach the end of the stairs.

"Let's hear it." Zach says with a smile as he turns to her.

"How about you and I go on a double date with Dave and Lane." She suggested.

Zach begins to chuckle then realizes Zoey is unamused.

"Wait you're serious?"

"Yeah I think the four of us going out will help things go back to normal."

"Are you sure that's such a good idea?"

"Definitely."

She then gives Zach a pleading look which makes Zach smile and say, "Okay fine. I'll talk to Lane."

Zoey steps closer to him and intertwines both of their hands.

"Thank you" She says before she leans in and kisses him. He kisses her back and then she pulls away and lets go of both of his hands and walks away.

"Someone's in love." Lorelai says in a girly voice as she, Rory, and Lane approach him.

A huge grin appeared on his face and he rolled his eyes at his mom. He then turned to Lane.

"Hey can I talk to you for a second?" He said.

"Yeah sure."

"You two go on. We'll catch up." He said.

Rory and Lorelai nodded and started walking across the street.

"What's up?"

"What are your thoughts on going on a double date with me and Zoey?" He asked hesitantly.

"Sounds like a great idea." She replied. Zach raised a brow.

"Seriously?"

"Yes. I'm not so sure Dave will be open to the idea, but I think it'll be fun."

Zach smiled. "Alright then."

The two continued to look at each other.

Lane snapped out of her gaze and said, "We should go meet Rory and your mom."

Zach cleared his throat. "Right."

The two of them then started across the street together.

<Friday>

(Zach) Zach shuts his locker as Zoey approaches him.

"Hi." She says then kisses him.

He smiles thought the kiss and kisses her as he pulls her closer by the waist. She then wraps her arms around her neck. He then turns and gently pushes her against the lockers as they continue to makeout.

Brynn and the others on the cheer squad see the two. "Get a room you two." Brynn says with a somewhat disgusted look.

The two pull away with Zoey's arms still around his neck and his hands still on her waist. Zach chuckles to himself and Zoey giggles.

"So where are you taking me tonight?" He asks flirtatiously.

"Does Sniffy's sound good?" She asks.

Zach smiles to himself while furrowing his brows.

"What?"

Zach shakes his head. "Nothing it's just. Sniffy's is where my mom and stepdad had their first date. They took me and Rory there once a few years ago." He tells her then returns his focus back on her.

"Then we'll just have to make tonight special."

"I'll pick you up at 7?"

"I'll be waiting."

The two of them then kiss.

<6:30pm>

Zach had just put on a white button up shirt when his phone rang. He looked over to his phone that was on the bed. His brows furrowed when he saw it was Jess calling. He picked up his phone and answered it as he walked over to his mirror. He then placed his phone against his shoulder and tilted his head to the right to hold up the phone while he buttoned his shirt.

"Hey." Zach said, a little confused.

"Hey." Jess said sounding nervous.

"Are you okay?" Zach asked.

Jess cleared his throat. "I uh...I'm leaving."

Zach had finished buttoning his shirt, leaving the top button unbuttoned. He turned around and held the phone in his hand.

"What? You said-"

"I know what I said." Jess replied as he approached his dresser and looked himself in the mirror. "I would've stayed longer if I hadn't ran into your sister today."

"It's a small town you two were bound to run into each other. I mean what did you expect?" He said with frustration.

Jess turned away from the mirror.

Zach sighed. "Can I at least come say goodbye?" He said calmly.

"Yeah I'll uh I'll meet you outside of the diner." He replied then Zach hung up the phone.
