"He's stable." Carina smiled as she wiped her tears away.
"I'm so happy, baby." Maya said as she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend's waist and the brunette hugged her.
"I'll go, grab a cup of coffee. Do you want one?"
"No, thanks. But I'll go with you." Maya smiled.
"Okay. I'm not sure if my hands are not going to shake."
"It's fine. Let's go." Maya laced their fingers together and they walked to the cart outside of the hospital.

"It's like a bad dream." Carina sighed as they sat down a little outside.
"I know. It's unbelievable." Maya placed her hand on Carina's lower back.
"He's my baby brother. And with his help the police arrested those horrible people."
"He's a hero, Carina. Your baby brother is a hero." Maya said.
"He is. But if I could have stopped him..."
"No, no, don't think about it."
"Okay. Okay."
"He's here and he's okay. Everything is going to be okay, Carina." Maya said running her hands up and down on Carina's back.
"I know." The brunette sighed and rested her head on Maya's shoulder.

After a little they walked back to the hospital. It was late night so they were lucky that they got coffee. It was a hard day.
"I'll go to my office, I need something. Meet you at Andrew's room?" Carina turned to Maya.
"Yeah, okay." Maya nodded. Carina went to her office while Maya went to Andrew's room.

"Where is Carina?" Dr. Hunt and Dr. Altman walked to Maya.
"She's in her office. She said she needs something. Why?" Maya asked. The two surgeon just looked at each other and then back at Maya. "No... Oh no. No way. No. No. No." Maya shook her head.
"We did everything."
"She didn't even have the chance to say goodbye." Maya said.
"I know. We're sorry. Oh poor Carina." Teddy sighed.
"Hi, what's up?" Carina asked as she came back from her office.
"Carina..." Teddy started but it was hard to her as well.
"Why don't we find a quiet place?"
"No, no. Don't... No." Carina covered her mouth with her hand. Maya quickly held her close before she could collapse.
"I'm so sorry, Carina." Teddy said. Carina just cried in Maya's arms, the two surgeons just looked at each other.
"Come, sit down." Maya whispered and led her girlfriend to the chairs.
"I just went to get coffee. And now he's..." Carina tried to speak but she couldn't, she just cried so hard.
"We're sorry for your loss." Owen said calmly. "We did everything we could." He added. Carina couldn't react she just let Maya to hold her tight. Owen and Teddy left them there after Maya gave them a little nod that she's going to handle this.

"We should go home." Maya whispered after Carina's sobbing slowly stopped.
"I can't function, Maya. I just..."
"Sh, it's okay. It's okay. Shh." Maya held her close but after a while she helped Carina standing up.
"I... I can't, Maya." Carina whispered.
"I'm here with you. We just walk to the car okay?" Carina nodded and let Maya to lead her to the car. She helped Carina to got into it.
"He's gone, Maya." Carina whispered.
"I'm sorry, baby." Maya grabbed her hands. Carina burst into tears again and tried to stop herself from crying but she failed. "Hey, come here." Maya leaned in and hugged Carina.
"My baby brother..." Carina whispered.
"I know. I know." Maya pressed a kiss into Carina's hair and hugged her tightly.

The drive home was silent. Sometimes Maya looked at Carina to see the brunette looking out of the window. Her eyes were red and... empty. Maya didn't say anything, she just stopped the car in front of their house. She turned to Carina who was still crying.
"Let's go inside." Maya said almost whispering. She rounded the car and helped Carina out and held her tight. They entered the house and Carina immediately collapsed to the floor, crying. "It's okay. It's okay, I've got you." Maya whispered as she sat down on the floor and hugged Carina, holding her close. Carina grabbed Maya's arms and just cried. Maya held her tears back, she wanted to stay strong for Carina. She had a really good relationship with Andrew and the fact that now he was gone was hard for Maya as well, but seeing her girlfriend, her love, like this broke her heart more and more.
