Voicemail 2 - I Almost Lost you (Marina)

"C... Car... Carina."

Carina immediately lifted her head up and wiped her tears away.
"Maya, bella, it's okay. I'm here." She said.
"I'm going to find Dr. Hunt." Andy said and left the room.
"Don't move. Just stay calm. I'm here." Carina said.
"Captain, you're awake. How do you feel?" Dr. Hunt asked.
"I'm weak. And tired." Maya said almost whispering.
"Yes, I know. Do you remember what happened?"
"I... I'm... No." she answered weakly as her eyes got watery.
"That's completely fine. Do you remember your name?"
"Maya Bishop."
"Do you know who she is?" Owen asked as she pointed to Carina.
"Carina DeLuca. She's my girlfriend."
"Yes, good. Your body went through a big trauma such as your brain so not remembering how you ended up here is not a problem, okay? Try to rest and sleep."
"Okay. Thanks." Maya nodded.
"If you need anything just let me know."
"Thank you." Carina smiled softly. Owen just nodded and left the room.
"How are you?" Andy asked.
"I've been better."
"I thought so. Carina, I'm going to the station and inform the team. Call me if you need anything."
"Alright. Thank you Andy." Carina said. Andy smiled at her and Maya and left.
"How are you?" Maya asked and she didn't take her eyes off of her girlfriend.
"I'm worried. When I heard what happened I..." Carina cut herself off and just looked into Maya's eyes hoping that the blonde will understand.
"Come, lay here." Maya beckoned with her head a little.
"I can't. Your IV and..."
"I don't care. I wanna be next to you." Maya said.
"Alright." Carina stood up and took her white working coat off. She slowly and cautiously climbed to the bed and Maya immediately got closer to her.
"Is it good?" Carina asked.
"Perfect." Maya said as she felt the warmth of her girlfriend.
"Okay." Carina whispered and started to stroke Maya's face and then her arms.

Maya fell asleep almost immediately. She felt safe in Carina's arms. It was so good to be with her even though the circumstances weren't that good. Carina fell asleep as well but after 30 minutes she woke up. She got out of the bed, gently, not to wake up Maya but she failed.
"Where are you going?" Maya asked sleepy.
"I'm going for a coffee and I have to talk to Bailey about my shift."
"Will you come back after you talked to her?"
"Of course, I will." Carina smiled and went to press a kiss to Maya's forehead.
"Okay."
"Are you okay?" Carina asked.
"Yeah." Maya nodded. Carina smiled at her and left the room. The truth was that Maya wasn't feel good so after Carina left the room she called a nurse.
"Dr. Hunt will be here in a minute." The nurse said.
"I'm so dizzy." Maya said. "And it hurts." she said. Seconds later all machines were beeping.
"Page cardio immediately!" Dr. Hunt shouted because he entered the room that moment. Maggie ran into the room.
"Charge to 300." Maggie shouted.
In the mean time Amelia ran to Maya's room because she heard what's happening.
"Where is Carina?" she asked.
"I don't know but don't let her in." Owen answered.
"Okay." Amelia nodded and she turned her head to see Carina with a death look on her face. "Carina, it's okay, don't panic. It's okay. Owen and Maggie are there with her."
"I should be there. She... She said... She..."
"Okay, okay, calm down. Here, sit down." Amelia lead her to the chairs and sat down next to her.
"I need to know what's happening." Carina said and tried to stand up but Amelia didn't let her.
"Her doctors are the best. And you know that you can't be there. Trust them. It's gonna be okay."
"What if... She..."
"No what if. Carina, listen to me. She's the strongest woman I've ever met. And you know that. She's a fighter. She won a gold medal. She's not gonna give up this easy. She's gonna be fine." Amelia said.
"Okay." Carina nodded and took a deep breath. A few minutes later Owen and Maggie stepped out of Maya's room. "How is she?" Carina stood up immediately.
"She's stable." Owen said.
"What was that? I mean... She..." Carina couldn't finish her sentence.
"She flatlined. Her heart got a serious injury but I fixed it in the OR when she got here."
"And now? She needs another surgery?"
"No. She's fine. And she'll be fine. But her body and her organs went through a big shock." Maggie said.
"When can I bring her home?"
"We'll see. I can't say anything for sure, but maybe a few days."
"Okay. Can I see her now?"
"Of course." Maggie nodded.
"Thanks." Carina said almost whispering and went back to sit next to her sleeping girlfriend.
"Hey. How is she?" Teddy entereted the room and looked at her chart.
"She..." Carina started but she couldn't finish.
"It's okay. I see in the chart. I'm sorry, Carina."
"I asked her if she's okay... And she... She said she's okay. So I went to grab a cup of coffee and..."
"It's okay. She's fine now." Teddy sat down next to Carina and started to stroke her back.
"I can't lose her." Carina whispered.
"You're not gonna lose her. You're meant to be. She loves you. And you love her. She's gonna wake up and go home. With you." Teddy said and let Carina to cry on her shoulder.
