I opened my eyes. I Blinked them multiple times just to adjust to the light. The black all around me was... black. I blinked multiple times. It's still black. I closed my eyes and opened them slowly again. The black turned to grey and bit by bit- I could see a bony figure in front of me. I almost yelled at this face. It was a man. I could see he was about 50 years old. The man had defined cheekbones and a bluish-gray face-if you stared at him for the right amount of time. He was wearing a suit with a red bowtie and gazed at me with black eyes.

"Nora, are you not?"

"Y-yes I am."

"If you are wondering if you have failed your show-you have certainly not". He stopped for a moment.

I looked at him with uncertainty. I was sprawled on a couch in a separate room. It was still quite fancy- I'm pretty sure I was still at the Howard estate. But I had just woken from a coma and a really bad migraine and almost disappeared into the darkness of space. I was not in the mood for an adult to feel bad for me and say that I have not failed. I literally stopped breathing, gasped for air, yelled a bit and-

"I have put a hologram in your place" He continued calmly.

That put me dead in my tracks.

"Surely this wouldn't be the first time you've seen magic?" He questioned-looking at my aghast face.

"I- its not" I gulped "I just haven't seen it performed by people other than me-" I clamped by hand to my mouth. I have given myself away. But this man looked calm at what I had just said

"It's ok- I already know," He said "I have eyes that can see magic".

Now, this sounded cringey. The man had looked at me, his face showing no emotions as he carried on.

"No- it's eye drops," He said sarcastically "I have magic- can't I see anybody else who has it?"

"Ok!" I fumed "Why am I here?"

I considered the possible reasons. I gasped.

"Are you kidnapping me?" I challenged

"Not at all!" The man replied.

"I am Winston Fern. You are going to have to call me Mr. Fern. I am a man who was born with ghastly powers. I was able to make any water- a poisonous liquid or an antidote for any known illness. I was abandoned as a child and as I grew up I decided that children who are abandoned because of their powers- must have a place they could go to a place where they can't overdo their powers and hurt themselves" He patted my head and A sharp pain went through me and then disappeared. I felt no more pain anymore.

"So-" I tried to do a recap "You are... Nah. I'm lost"

He sighed.

"I am going to train you to get better at your magic. It is a delicate process and extremely dangerous if you practice it freely. I will tell your parents that you have been picked for an ace school just outside town. It only has a few kids so don't you worry. We have dorms and such and also-its not your choice if you don't want to come or not. You have to come. If you don't--" He paused for suspense "The whole village will be destroyed-forget village; the whole world will be destroyed! You know what? Maybe that was too much. It will be as if a small nuclear bomb had erupted. Which will compromise your safety"

I gulped.

"That pain you had? That was a small warning from your brain saying that you have overdone it. You are lucky that I was in the crowd. You would have been frozen and gasping for air and trying to perform spells in front of them and would have been truly devastating. So I had to separate your soul from your body-wich; by the way, you made it so hard to do. You had tried to stop your movement and time and why do you have to make it so hard- and bring you here. After your show, I made your body walk over to me and I melded you together".

I looked up at myself and checked that I have all of my limbs when Mr. Fern glared at me

I stopped immediately.

It's crazy what glares can force you to do.

"Tomorrow- I will tell your parents about your school and will take you there in the afternoon. Go out and see what the reactions to your show are"

As I walked out-it took a minute when I saw a few adults walk towards me and started opening a conversation

"I loved your show honey!" a tall woman said

"I thought it was pure magic!" A beefy man exclaimed. Anne Howard came by- her high heels clicking on the tiled floor.

"Nora? I might need to borrow you for a minute" She said in a happy voice. She grabbed my hand and we walked out and away from the people.

We were in an empty hallway.

"Mom said you can have twice the money," Anne said. She handed me a little bag with some money in it.

As I walked away- home- I looked at myself. What do I say to my parents? My dress had been torn up a bit. Mr. Fern had shrugged and said that it was hard to control a body that had magic in its veins. I shivered, That sounded weird. As I looked up at the sky, I saw that it had been slowly getting dark. I sighed and gazed at the stars, there was Ursa Major- my favourite constellation. I remember looking up at the skylight when I was 9 and seeing it and in awe, and asking my teacher about it later I had scrambled to go get a paper and pen and had drawn it.

"Wow! you have some serious memory!" He had remarked "This constellation is Ursa Major-The Big Bear".

I had tried to imagine a big, starry bear- Standing up, its jaws opened in a big yawn.

"Ursa Major is the third largest constellation in the sky, occupying an area of 1280 square degrees," He said matter of factly- looking at my awestruck face and chuckling.

"The constellation Ursa Major contains 22 formally named stars, which are Alcor, Alioth, Alkaid, Alkaphrah, Alula Australis, Alula Borealis, Aniara, Chalawan, Dombay, Dubhe, Intercrus, Liesma, Megrez, Merak, Mizar, Muscidae, Násti, Phecda, Taiyangshou, Talitha, Tania Australis, and Tania Borealis" He listed moving his hands- trying to remember them "Can you repeat it after me?"

"Um... Alcor, Alkaid, Alkaphrah, Alula, Megrez, Mizar, Nasti... Umm..."

My teacher mouthed something to me I didn't understand

"Oh, I got it! Tania! Tania Australis? Phecda?" I continued

"Nearly there" He had said-patting my head "Practice a bit more and you will eventually memorize them!"

And I did

Now I can say them all

Phecda, Talitha, Násti, Muscidae, Liesma, Intercrus, Alcor, Alioth, Alkaid, Tania Australis, Tania Borealis, Aniara, Chalawan, Dombay, Dubhe, Megrez, Merak, Mizar and Taiyangshou

I had a dream- a thought really- at the time; that told me "Hey! I want to be an astrologist!"

But now I just feel lonely. I would never have the normal life I thought I would have. I'm pretty sure I can't become an astrologist.

I would never be...

Normal.
