I underestimated what the Tavern is. I was expecting some little coffee shop, but it turns out to be a huge mansion in the far side of town. Far enough that the Tavern just happens to be completely isolated. Outside, there's a massive lawn, a clearing, and about two acres of woods and camp grounds. Kendall and I head straight inside.
Dance music blares in my ears, and I notice red Solo cups floating around the room, which are notoriously known for holding beer. Geez, these rich kids party hard. I cautiously take a cup, but don't gulp it down. I've had experience with alcohol, and have grown to be responsible. I notice that Kendall's double-fisting already and roll my eyes.
After my ears adjust to the sound, I take in my surroundings. The main floor is pretty open concept, but at the top of a large staircase, there seems to be a lot of smaller rooms.
I notice a group of guys in the corner checking every girl in sight out, including me, and turn away quickly, swinging open the front door once more. The autumn air whips me in the face and I cross the lawn slowly, crossing my arms in the hopes of keeping warm.
As I walk through, no one stops to talk to me. Some people shoot me nasty looks, and others back away. It's like there afraid of the less fortunate. It's pathetic.
I stop strolling for a minute when I hear a particular name being thrown around. Josh Hyland.
Not that I'm interested, but he is one person I'd like to get some dirt on."Yeah, he broke up with Sierra just few minutes ago."
"Oh my gosh, really?"
"Yeah, they were making out on the main couch and he just pulled away and dropped the bomb."
Wow, he really is a jerk, and a player. Any girl to fall for him would be an idiot.
And that's when I hear it. Someone speaks my name besides my foster family. It's sounds strange, and it bothers me.
"Chloe? Is that you?" It's the same deep voice that I heard before, the voice belonging to Josh Hyland.
"Go away, Josh." I fire, tucking my side bangs in front of my face.
He comes up beside me and lays a hand on my shoulder, and my heart speeds up a bit. I immediately brush him off and shake my head,
"Really, go get back together with Sierra, this isn't worth it." I mentally urge him to go, but he doesn't.
