"Wakey wakey." Ros finally shook you awake, smirking.
"Talking cat," you mumbled.
"Mii-chan used to be a normal cat, but perhaps because of my influence, little by little he started to speak and walk on two legs," Janua explained. "Mii-chan?" He looked over at the cat, and Ruki was kicking him in the shin.
"Oh god," you groaned.
"Oh, yes! Oh, yes! Oh, yes!" the cat cried.
"Gross," you gagged. "Ruki, quit it!"
"Yeah!" Alba butted in.
"Mii-chan! Mii-chan? Listen to me, Mii-chan!" Janua demanded. "This is goodbye. Thank you for everything, I was very happy to have you with me when I was all alone. Once I go back to the Demon World, I probably won't see you anymore, but I'll never forget the time I spent with you. And I'm sorry that because of me, you're no longer a normal cat." He hung his head.
"Ja-kun," Mii-chan spoke up, "I'm not a normal cat anymore, true. But I got to be your friend."
"Mii-chan," Janua smiled.
"One last thing. Before you go, can you step on me with your heel?"
"He ruined the mood!" Alba sobbed in despair, launching himself at you.
"Quit it, Hero!" You shoved him away.
"I'm kidding." The two of them fistbumped.
"See you around," Janua whispered.
"Aaw," you cooed. Ros glared, a slight amount of jealousy mixed in.
And then something impaled the demon, splattering his blood everywhere.
"You can't go back yet," a little girl snarled, "'cause you're one of the chosen twelve!"
"JANUA-SAN!" Alba ran over, trailing you behind.
"Stay away from him! Don't worry, I haven't killed him. I don't want him dying, either." The girl had razor sharp teeth that gleamed in the light.
"That's Februar Zwei!" Ruki exclaimed. "A witch that's over a hundred years old!"
"Don't talk about my age!"
Mii-chan made a hole in the concrete where Zwei had stood. "Let go of Ja-kun!"
"Not happening!" she sang, a long tentacle sticking out of her stretching to an incredible length. The other end was in Janua. "'Cause he's-" She bent over with a grunt. "Jumping hurt my hips!"
"She's an old lady!" Alba cried.
"Old hag!" you shouted.
"You and your little tricks!"
"What 'tricks'?" He looked completely lost.
"That proves it!" Ruki squealed excitedly. "The story that whenever Zwei moves quickly, a curse causes her pain in her joints and hips is true!"
"Ruki-chan, that's called being old," Alba corrected her.
"I heard that!" Zwei stood up again. "Don't treat me like an old woman!" And then her dentures flew out.
"Hey, run towards Janua," Ros told Mii-chan.
"Why?"
"Just do it." So he did, Zwei's tentacle right behind him.
"It's no use! My tentacle can extend and retract at will, but they don't move an inch unless I tell them to!"
Ros leapt over, standing on the tentacle. He looked down at her with a dark look. "How far does it stretch?" And then he kicked her through the wall, and then she went through several more in the process. Then the tentacle snapped off.
"Holy shit." You just stood there, dumbfounded. "That was awesome."
"Hero, can you move? Ruki, open a gate. Heal his wounds and send him back." He turned to you and Alba. "It may be best to get out of here first."
"Why?" you asked.
"I kicked her away, but I don't hear anyone. Someone came flying straight through a wall, but there's no screams of surprise. And I haven't seen any guards."
"Then she-"
"Zwei probably wiped the whole area clean." He leaned in. "Hero, you understand, right? If you run, the front page of tomorrow's paper will say 'Former Hero Alba Wipes Out Entire Village and Escapes!'" His eyes were shining as he smiled happily. You nearly passed out again.
"Why are your eyes shining when you say that?!"
"Don't question it." You ran over to Janua, picking him up in your arms. "Are you okay?" No response. "Janua?"
Ros seethed with jealously, which Alba and Ruki did not fail to notice. "Here we go," they sighed.
