'What does it say?'
I read the short letter addressed to me once more, this time out loud.
'Teddy, please join us as soon as you can, the Death Mark has just been casted in the sky above Ottery St Catchpole.'
It was signed by one of my colleagues.
I raised my eyes and found Jaz trembling, her face pale. 'Ted...' she shook her head, as if denying what she had just heard 'I... I can't believe this... that mark has not been seen for thirty years...'
I knew what was coming. She was going to blame it on us.
I hugged her tightly. 'There has been threats of a new war coming up for years now. You can't honestly think we are responsible for this, Jaz, please.'
She hugged me back, a few drops falling from her eyes on my shirt.
'I need to go' I whispered, even though my arms kept tight around her.
Those words, however, seemed to remind her of something else. She stepped back, wiped a tear under her eye and looked at my hair with expectation. 'Do my colour' she asked, still staring at the top of my head 'try it, Ted'.
I concentrated myself to change my hair into her favourite colour, just like she used to ask me all the time when we were younger. I focused on all the happiness I felt from being there with her, on how I didn't want to be anywhere else in the world but by her side, letting all of those feelings resonate inside my chest.
I opened my eyes and she was casting the brightest of the smiles at my hair.
                              It had worked.
'I never understood why you like this shade of blue, honestly' I sneered.
'It's the colour of your eyes, silly.'
                              ...
I came back from my mission just a few hours before heading to my parents' house. I had just arrived at the dimly lit garage and started preparing the potion when I heard steps climbing down the stairs. For a second, Jaz just stood there, staring at me with relief in her eyes. The next moment, she was already wrapping me on a tight hug. 'I was so worried' she breathed.
'I know' I kissed her forehead 'it went alright, though, we identified who did it. But there's a lot of work coming our way.' I lifter her to her usual seat at the work desk while I finished mixing up the ingredients and telling her about what had happened on that last week. Once the potion was simmering, I walked to the edge of the desk where she was sitting and pulled her close, wrapping her legs around my waist.
The sudden feeling of our bodies glued to each other made both of us gasp quietly.
'Please don't make me horny at your parents' house' she murmured, her eyes closed, her breath becoming heavier.
I wanted her so bad. But that would have to wait, so I just pressed my lips gently against hers on a delicate kiss.
As our lips broke apart, we looked at each other.
'Nevermind' she mumbled, kissing me again, this time with all of her might.
I picked her up from the table, my hands under her thighs, and slouched into the old sofa besides the working desk, so that she was once more straddling me. She grinded down on me, making me moan deeply, her hands already halfway through unbuttoning my shirt while I moved my hands slowly and steadily up her thighs under her dress...
'You know, this is exactly how I got pregnant of you when I was your age...' someone spoke from the door.
                              We froze.
