Hope was shaking her legs nervously under the table, looking at her watch constantly since Mr Stark sent her a message saying that he would be back soon. The breakfast she just ate threatened to make an appearance. Why was she so nervous anyway? Why not seeing Mr Stark got her so over the age every time?
Maybe it's because you don't like to be alone. Alone and unprotected and vulnerable and alone. In the dark. Scared.
"Hope?" Hope was pulled out of her dark thoughts abruptly when Wanda called her. She seemed worried. "Are you okay?"
Hope looked at her, just then realising that Vision was with her in his human form, also seeming extremely worried.
"Are you okay?" She repeated, coming closer. "I can feel your distress, sweety."
She can feel my distress...? A sudden fear of the Scarlet Witch reading her mind crashed Hope. She couldn't know. No one could.
"Stay out of my mind!"
Hope typed angrily, she could see Wanda and Vision was caught off guard both by her hostility and for her new way of communicating, which immediately made her feel guilty.
"Hey, no, don't worry. I don't read any of the team's mind. It's against the code. I wouldn't do that without your permission. I promise."
Hope narrowed her eyes to Wanda and Vision, trying to see a crack among the armour, a hint that she was lying. At the same time, she couldn't bring herself to be afraid of Wanda, the woman that helped her, borrowed her clothes and made her feel comfortable. She wasn't going to admit it, but she was relieved for not having to stay alone waiting for Mr Stark.
"Okay, I believe you." Hope thought, and Wanda could see that she was lowering her guard down.
"Is it okay if we sit will you?" Vision asked carefully as if trying not to scare her.
She nodded, and they both sat down at the table next to her.
Hope couldn't deny she felt nervous in their presence, but not in a bad way. She trusted Wanda, and Wanda trusted Vision, she was safe with the most powerful avengers. Not to mention that she probably didn't let Vision with a good first impression.
Nervous to break the awkward silence, Hope searched for something to say.
"Have you eaten?"
