JANUARY 2nd 1977

THE last few days of 1976 went by pretty fast. James and Cat were the only ones who ended up at the Potter's. Remus and Sirius wanted to stay at Remus' parents house to ring in the New Year. When James and Cat arrived at the house, using the floo network, Euphemia and Fleamont were standing there, waiting for their arrival. Fleamont brought James in for a hug while Euphemia gave a bone-crushing hug to Cat. It was sundown when they arrived so Euphemia ushered the two kids into the kitchen and sat them down in front of a wide selection of food. "Eat up you two, you must be hungry from your trip over."

"Thanks, mum," James said while scooping food onto his plate.

"Yes, thank you, Euphemia," Cat smiled up at her.

The next day Euphemia took Cat shopping as a bonding experience as James said. Euphemia insisted that girls can never have too many clothes when Cat had told her she didn't have to buy her anything.

Now that the Christmas holiday was over, Cat was sitting on the Hogwarts Express, in a compartment filled with sleeping boys. Sirius' head was leaning on Remus' shoulder while Remus' head was leaned back. Peter was next to Remus with his head on the window. James had his head in Cat's lap with his feet on the bench. He was lightly snoring while Cat absentmindedly ran her fingers through his hair.

There was a light knocking on the door and Cat saw the trolley lady silently asking if she wanted any sweets, noticing the sleeping boys. Cat shook her head and went back to looking out the window at the scenery.

Not ten minutes later, the door violently swung open with Lily entering. "Shh," Cat shushed.

"Oh, sorry," Lily said, eyes bluffing and hand over her mouth. "Do you mind if I sit?" Lily nodded at the empty seat next to Cat and took it up when Cat scooted over a smidge. Lily brought her feet up close to her chest.

"What are you doing?" Cat whispered.

"Hiding."

"From?"

"Amos," Lily answered, carefully looking out the door. Cat raised an eyebrow, wanting more context. "He thinks that since I went to the Masquerade Ball with him, I belong to him or something like that."

"So just tell him to go away," Cat suggested.

"I have. Multiple times," Lily said. "He always seems to find me. Speaking of which, I should probably go. It'll be obvious I'm here." Lily stood up and swiftly exited the compartment. As she expected, Amos showed up at the door moments after Lily left. Cat turned him away in the opposite direction Lily had went.

When the train finally came to a stop, Peter flinched awake. "We're already here? Bloody hell," he muttered to himself.

"Oi, Pete! I'm sleeping here," James grumbled.
