At the last crack of apparition, Cat started cleaning up the flat. Cat and James had a small party with Sirius, Remus, Marlene, Lily, Rachel, and Dorcas. Remus and Sirius were the last to leave well after midnight.

Cat was picking up some cans from behind the couch when she heard the couch squeaking.

"I love you," James said.

Without looking up, Cat responded "I love you too."

The only sound in the room was the crinkling of Cat cleaning and the crack of the fire until James said, "Marry me."

Cat picked up her head, and looked in the direction of the couch James was laying on. She laughed to herself and said, "You're drunk, James."

"No, I'm not." James sat up from his position on the couch and leaned over the back of the couch. "Marry me, Cat." Cat looked at him in disbelief. "I'll do this the proper way." James jumped over the back of the couch and stood in front of Cat. He took the old family ring off his finger and got down on one knee "I know this isn't an engagement ring or anything but...marry me Cat. I know we're just barely nineteen and the war only just ended. But I love you and I don't-"

Cat kissed him.
