The boy suddenly came to a stop when he saw it. It was the tree he set at his starting point. The tree with the three notches. He looked closely. There was no mistaking it. He had looped in a huge circle.
The boy could not believe it. He was right back where he started. He stubbornly picked a different direction to follow. He figured that he had just made a mistake. The forest can't go on forever, he told himself.
He quietly walked along his new path. Marking x's on trees. He tried to calm himself down but he felt increasingly scared as the two suns continued to sink below the horizen.
