Snow had blanketed all of Avonlea.  The trees tried their hardest to hold up the heavy powder.  Sometimes a breeze would come, causing a light snowfall from the trees.  Marilla Cuthbert was enjoying her cup of tea and watches the snow.  It's unlike her to sit about, but with the absence of Anne she had taken up some of her ways.

"Ms. Cuthbert, everything is ready for Anne," Jerry came in to tell.  He leaned on the door, his hat had specks of snow on it.

"Thank You Jerry.  There's some pastries on the table for you."

Jerry smiled and grabbed a handful of delights.  Marilla looked back out the window, and saw a carriage in the distance.  She smiled with glee and got up to meet them.

"Aren't you just thrilled!" Diana exclaimed.  Her face was in her closet pulling out the items she would need for the break.

"Of course!  Just think of how delightful it will be to be reunited with out families in the majestic place of Avonlea!"

Diana sighed and shook her head, "I meant seeing Gilbert, but that too is exciting."

"Oh, well yes I am very excited to see him too."

Diana shook her head and laughed.  "It's been almost four months, Anne.  And all you do is talk about him, I would think you would be more excited than that."

"I do not!"

"You do to. Oh Gilbert, How I miss him soo much."

"I don't sound like that."  Anne closed her bag and made sure she had all she needed.  "It's just, I don't know what to say to him?"

"You've never had a problem talking to him before," Diana reassures.

"Yes but that is in letters, and this is.. I don't know."

"I'm sure you'll be fine."  The two girls leaned in and linked pinkies.  They smiled, as dear friends do.  Diana Barry and Anne Shirley Cuthbert were the dearest of friends.

Both girls made their way into the courtyard, their luggage in hand.  Dianas father was meeting her at the train station, as was Gilbert.

When they were at the train station, they waited for quite a while.  Anne was starting to wonder if Gilbert was even coming.  Diana reassured her that it was a long journey and that he will show.

That's when Gilbert caught sight of a flash of fiery red hair.  He breathed in and smiled.  She was wearing a green and white dress, and he had never seen anything else more beautiful.

Anne was turned around to face Diana.  Gilbert started to walk up to her, and then that walk turned into a jog.  He shouted out her name.  Anne turned around to see Gilbert dressed in black and white running towards her.  She lifted up her skirts and ran to meet him.  As soon as they got close enough Anne jumped into his arms, he spun her around both of them laughing and crying.  He grabbed her hair and held her close to him.  Both of them were truly happy to see each other again.

It took all of Gilberts strength not to grab her face and pull it to his.  "Oh Anne, how I've missed you."

"I've missed you too."  They both walked onto the train, holding onto each other.  Diana had found her father, and Gilbert and Anne found a seat.

"So, tell me everything," Anne said eagerly.

"Well, let's see where do I start?" He laughed.

They both told stories of there time at school, all while holding each others hands.  A few older people gave them judgmental glances, but both Anne and Gilbert didn't care.
