HOGWARTS, SUNDAY, OCTOBER 31, 1993

REMUS LUPIN WAS LEFT WITH a difficult decision on that October day. He could tell Elizabeth everything he knew about Fenrir Greyback: how he was actually free and would most likely be planning to come after her and her mother. Or, he could keep what he knew to himself and spare her the fear, at least for now.

He spent a few moments contemplating. Elizabeth was young. She didn't deserve to live in fear. Remus knew fear like that from a young age, and he knew she didn't deserve that. Additionally, if her mother hadn't told her yet, there must be a reason, and he had to respect that. So, Remus Lupin decided not to tell her, instead choosing to keep a close eye on her to make sure she was safe during her time at Hogwarts. When she left for the summer: well, they'd cross that bridge when they got there.

"Wait, is something wrong?" Elizabeth's voice broke Professor Lupin out of his deep thoughts.

The blank and slightly worried look on the teacher's face suddenly disappeared as a reserved smile spread across his face. "No, nothing's wrong, Ms. Sharpe," he said, his voice laced with a hint of fear, which puzzled Elizabeth. He glanced back toward the castle, running his hands along his shabby brown robes. "Unfortunately, though, I believe I have some business to attend to back at the castle. I must be meeting Professor Snape soon. It was lovely talking to you both. Have a wonderful evening!" He gave them both a curt nod before stepping around them and hurrying toward the castle.

Harry and Elizabeth were both shocked by his sudden departure. Elizabeth stared after their professor, asking Harry, "Um, what was that?"

Harry was equally as confused, shaking his head slightly, eyes blank behind his round glasses. "Absolutely no idea," he replied, utterly bewildered. "But, I mean, he's going to meet Snape, so maybe the dread of having to be in the same room with him was setting in early."

"That's actually understandable," Elizabeth chuckled. Harry always did have a strong hatred for Professor Snape, which was justly deserved. The potions master never spared the opportunity to torment him, occasionally on his looks or his past, and also extended that honor to his friends, Elizabeth included. Potions was always incredibly entertaining to have with Harry just to see the pure loathing in both of their eyes. It was one of the biggest things she missed this year now that they had separate potions classes.
