Dahyun slides over a slice of cake and steaming mug of hot chocolate. "You're still single, right?"
Tzuyu rolls her eyes. "21 years and going."
Dahyun stirs her own cup of coffee, staring out into space. Tzuyu knows her well enough to recognize her 'deep thought' face, ranging from sashimi in honey vs. pineapple mint chocolate ice cream to the meaning of life.
"I think you look good together," Dahyun says finally and Tzuyu groans. Her best friend's always loved to play cupid.
"Who?"
"Sharon. The woman you slammed the door into?"
Tzuyu winces at the memory. Dahyun nonchalantly stabs the pudding with a fork, scooping a piece into her mouth before she continues.
"You should date."
Tzuyu gapes at her friend, incredulous. She's been "matched" with a teacher, a basketball player, an actual player, a YouTuber, and a random male being she had crossed paths with since the age of 14. But this was crossing the line. "We don't even know each other."
"You've met before."
"Once. She was just a customer."
Dahyun taps her chest proudly. "I have a sixth sense."
"For cameras. Not the future," retorts Tzuyu.
"Wanna bet?"
Last time they bet, Dahyun had lost by a large margin. It was a given of course. There was no way she could have gotten that one actress's phone number.
Tzuyu faces Dahyun with increasing confidence and shrugs. "Take the risk, why don't you."
Smirking, Dahyun's eyes flash as menacingly as a piece of jiggly tofu can be. "One year," she says between mouthfuls.
"One year," repeats Tzuyu thoughtfully.
The city is big. Huge. Vast. They won't meet again, Tzuyu's sure of that.
(But she secretly hopes they will because Sharon's gentle smile constantly lingers somewhere in the back of her head. It's driving her crazy.)
