Eden's POV

"Okay, guys, the big game is 3 weeks away. I've seen their practices. They're good, but we're better," I look around at my teammates, "It's all about mental capability. If we believe that we can do it, then we can do it."

They all cheer as I dismiss them. I walk to my car, open the door, and put my football pads in the back of my truck. I get in the front seat and drive home quickly. When I get home I get in the shower and change into my work clothes.

I run downstairs, get in my car, and drive to work. I open the door of Claire's Bakery and immediately inhale the sweet scent of fresh cookies coming out of the oven. I round the counter and Claire says her daily hello to me, I respond with a polite hello.

I clock into work and put on my apron, "We're getting a new employee today. He's your age, I want you to be the one to help him around here." I nod, "Yes ma'am, I will do my best." Claire is an older woman, she's nearly in her eighties. Her granddaughter, Maya, is here a lot. I don't know what I'd do without Claire. She's a nice old lady.

The door opens, "Ahh... there he is now." I turn around to see someone I would NEVER  want to see in the bakery that  work at. Miles Young.

"Hello Miles. I'm glad you're here. I was just telling Eden here that we're getting a new employee today," Claire says. Miles smiles at me and I just glare at him. "Yes, I'm a little bit early. Is that okay?" Miles asks Claire. "Oh, yes. Eden is always early."

"I have errands to run. Will you boys be okay here by yourselves?" Claire looks at me. "Yes ma'am. We'll be fine." She nods and leaves. I glare at him, "What are you doing here?" My words come out harsh and mean. "I don't know what you're talking about. I'm just trying to make money." Miles says.

I roll my eyes, "Fine, come here." He walks towards me. He gets so close, a few inches away from me. My face flushes bright red, "Not that close." He steps back. "Honestly, the job isn't hard. Someone comes in and asks for something you give it to them and ring it up."

The door opens and some of my friends walk in laughing. They see Miles and immediately stop laughing. They try to become intimidating. I walk around the counter to them. We all huddle up and start whispering to each other.

"What's he doing here?"-Elijah

"Do we need to fight him?"-Jonas

"Those cookies smell good."-Jake

"Guys, he's just here for a job," I say. "You work with him?" Elijah asks. I nod, "Yes, he started today. Now, order something or leave." I walk back behind the counter. "Three cookies, please," Jake says. I sigh, "So for three cookies, you press the button that says cookies and enter in three. Then press finish and you're done."

Miles nods as I explain it to him, "Three dollars." He says to Jake. He hands Miles the money as I get the cookies. "There's a party tomorrow. Are you coming?" Jake asks me. I shake my head, "Probably not." They groan and walk out of the bakery.

"So not a party person?" Miles asks. I glare at him, "I enjoy parties just fine. I'm just not interested in getting drunk and girls rubbing all over me." He nods, "I understand. I don't like girls on me either." He chuckles.

"You're gay. I'm not." I lean against the counter, "That doesn't stop the girls, Eden." I sigh and get on my phone. I open Snapchat and show him all the snaps from girls. "Is that what we're doing?" He gets on his phone and shows me snaps from both guys and girls.

I roll my eyes, "Whatever." He looks over my shoulder at my phone. I smile as a text from Veronica shows up. "Who's that?" He says. "No one you need to know about." I turn off my phone and put it in my pocket.

"Go wipe off tables." I glare at him. He sighs and nods. He starts wiping off tables as I watch him. "Riddle me this, why did you decide to get a job here? At the same place, I work?"  He stops wiping down tables and looks at me.

"I didn't know you worked here." He says. I roll my eyes, "That's major cap.*" He laughs, "Did you just say cap?" I nod, "Yes, as a matter of fact, I did." He laughs again, "You know a gay person came up with that."

A Few Long Hours Later

I turn off the open sign and close the blinds on the windows. Miles looks at me, "What?" I say. He shakes his head, "You'll think it's stupid." I give him a look that says 'Really? I work with you'

He sighs, "If you were gay, I would date you." I raise an eyebrow. "Really? How do you know I'm not." I move closer to him.

"1. You said so earlier. 2. You don't seem like the kind of person who dates guys." I smile, "Really?" At this point, I'm in front of him. He looks down at me. I look at him and smile.

Then I crash my lips onto his.
