Faith
"I don't suppose you want to come to the old parking lot to see Scarlet's show tonight?" I asked my dark-haired best friend, who shook her head. "At least come to dinner." I pressed. Jaye hadn't been out of the apartment since her ex-girlfriend Dahlia had left a note saying they have AIDS before slitting her wrists in the bathroom. Dahlia may have been an abusive bitch, but that didn't stop Jaye from mourning her and herself.
Jaye shook her head. "May I interest you in a glance at my empty wallet?"
I sighed. "Touché. Take your AZT." I told her as I put on my coat and headed for the door. I glanced back at her. "I'll be back to check on you later. Please consider changing your mind. You need to get out of this apartment."
She only nodded slowly, reaching for her AZT. The last sound I heard was the tuning of an acoustic guitar as I walked out of the apartment.

"You need to get out of the house, Paige. For more than just work." I implored the shorter girl as I got ready to go help Scarlet. She shook her head. "I'll be fine, Jean, I have the voices in my head and the AZT to keep me company."
"You need to go out and meet people. Sitting here alone in the dark won't cure your disease or your mental health, nor will pole dancing for random strangers." I pointed out.
"Leave it alone, Jean." She replied darkly.
I sighed, knowing better than to further continue the argument. "I'll be back later- I hope you've changed your mind by then." I murmured, walking out the door.
"I won't." She said as the door closed behind me. Little was I to know that it would open again not but an hour or so later for a completely different person.
