Little Druid Boy

I rush with Gwen to Morgana's room. Gwen came to me saying there's something wrong and they need my help. I quickly grab my first aid kit and follow her.

I rush in when Morgana opens the door. "What's wrong?" I ask, getting straight to the point.

"There's a little boy and he's injured," Morgana explains.

Without a second thought, I go to the back where Merlin is holding a drowsy boy in his arms. His arm is cut and he's all sweaty.

"Lay him down," I order. "Get me some cloth, I need to patch him up." I gently remove his shirt so get a better look at him. Some bruises on his arms and the laceration across his tricep, but nothing more, thank goodness. "Are you okay, little one?" I ask. He nods weakly. "Good, I'm just gonna wrap you up okay? The cut isn't too bad." All he does is nod again.

I dress the cut on his arm gently after cleaning it. He'll be alright. I tell him to sleep for a bit while I go to Merlin.

"What happened?" I ask.

"I heard him calling to me," Merlin explains. "In my head."

"Telepathy?" I wonder aloud. "That's new. He was calling for you specifically?"

"No. Just calling out for anyone, I think."

"Who is he?"

"I dunno. He's a young Druid apprentice but I don't know his name."

"Let's just make sure he's alright before we do anything stupid."

"People of Camelot, the man before you is guilty of using enchantments and magic," I hear Uther announce from the terrace. The Druid man, the boy's mentor, stands on the chopping block in the square. "Under our law, the sentence for this crime is death."

Morgana and I squeeze each other's hands, both scared and upset about the events before us.

"We are still searching for his accomplice," Uther continues. "Anyone found harbouring the boy is guilty of conspiracy and will be executed as a traitor." Oh fuck... Merlin, Morgana and I all share a worried glance. This isn't good.

"Let this serve as a warning to your people," Uther speaks directly to the Druid man.

"You have let your fear of magic turn to hate," the man speaks from his position. "I pity you."

"I can't watch this," Morgana says quietly then goes to the boy. She holds him while Merlin and I watch the man gets forced to the block, and his head chopped off.

"No!" The boy screams. The mirror beside me breaks as if hit by a projectile. Well, that's not good.

I go to Morgana and the boy. "We'll come back with food," I tell him. "Make sure you sleep. You've lost quite a bit of blood from that cut." He nods and I smile. I turn to Morgana. "We'll be back soon."

Merlin and I sit at the table eating lunch while Gaius writes something down. All we need to do is get the boy some food and we'll be golden. No bringing attention to Gaius that we are involved.

"Do you know much about the Druids?" Merlin asks making me mentally facepalm. This man, I swear to God.

"Very little," Gaius answers as he writes down his notes. "They're very secretive people, especially now they're being hunted by Uther."

I kick Merlin lightly from under the table and gestured for him to keep eating like nothing's wrong. If I know Gaius he's about to connect the dots in three... two... one...
