Chapter Three

Hawk, Demetri, Moon and I were at the beach playing volleyball and it was Demetri's time to serve and completely missed and hit the net "Um Mulligan, send it back." he said stepping back.  "There's no mulligans in volleyball." hawk said "Says you. Water break." demetri said going to grab a towel to wipe his face off. "Cobra Kai? You guys won that karate tournament, right?" some girl said as she walked up to him with another girl. "The All Valley... The Rumble in Reseda? Yes, uh, we, uh... We certainly did." Demetri said, i just rolled my eyes and laughed at him.

"Cool. We're gonna go for a swim, but maybe play with you later?" she said. "Most def. Uh, that means "most definitely." "Look at you, player." Moon said. "It'd be nice if you actually earned the Cobra Kai cred you're so happy to take." hawk said walking up to him. I saw Miguel walking over to us "hey Miguel." i said walking to him "Hey, there's the man." hawk said doing a hand shake with him. "No. No more of this. Look, it's a beautiful day out, the beach is packed with babes. No more sulking about Sam." "I'm not sulking about Sam. It's about Sensei." "what happened?" i said "Is this about his rap sheet? My parents read it online. I think it makes him more badass." "It's about him and Robby Keene."

We were all stretching in a circle at the dojo. "So, I did a deep-dive online, and you were right. Sensei is definitely Keene's father." hawk said "I just don't understand why he wouldn't tell us." "I don't know." hawk said "it explains why he's giving you guys a hard time for beating Robby at the tournament." i said switching my leg. "why do you call him Robby instead of keene isn't he the enemy." hawk said to me. "he may be in another dojo and going against ours but i have what some people may call human decency." i said going back to stretching. "whatever." he said going back to talking to Miguel. "Show no mercy, unless it's his son. Then we gotta be pussies." "You guys, have you seen the commercial?" Aisha said walking over to us. 

"no what commercial?" i said. "Sam's dad started his own dojo and he disses Cobra Kai." she showed us the commercial "why the hell would he do that?" i said in disbelief.

"There's a lot of talk going around the Valley about free karate. But everyone knows that in life, you get what you pay for. You wanna really kick the competition? Then you need to get your ass over to Cobra Kai. Screw that lame meditation bullshit. What you need is bone-crunching, face-smashing, good ol' American karate. Enough about self-defense. Learn self-offense! Don't be a pussy. Join Cobra Kai, and let me teach you the way of the fist." sensei said as Aisha was recording. "and cut" she said. "All right, did we get it?" he said. "I think so." "All right, great. Just make sure the Cobra Kai snake comes in at the end, all right? I want it to really pop. Make it chrome. And throw Thunderstruck under it." "I'm pretty sure the rights for that song will cost too much."

"No, I already own it. Cassette's in the car. Oh. And put one of those hash browns at the end. You know, like, "Hash brown, Team Cobra Kai" or something. And then send it to the Internet!" sensei said walking back into the back room area. Me, Hawk and Miguel followed behind to go talk to him about Robby. "get the rest of this shit out of here. I got a lot of new students coming in. This isn't a storage locker anymore." "Sensei, can we talk to you about something?" Miguel said. "Look, if it's about the infomercial, I know." "It's not about the commercial Sensei." i said. "It's about Robby Keene." hawk said after me. "What about him?" "I saw his picture on your refrigerator. I wasn't snooping, but we know he's your son."

"That's why you got mad at them after the tournament, right?" i said. "Is that what you think? Yeah, Robby's my son, but that has nothing to do with how I run my dojo. It's also none of your damn business, do you understand?" "yes sensei." me and Miguel said. "But, Sensei, I-" "But" nothing. Get out. You three clean mats for the rest of the week." sensei said interrupting hawk. Hawk and I left the room but Miguel stayed behind, probably to talk about something. 

It was now Valley Fest and me and demetri were having fun all day until i heard my name get called "y/n! its time." i turned around to see Miguel and hawk waiting for me. "okay ill be right there see you later dem." i said waving him off and joining the others. We were waiting for the perfect moment to go in then sensei said "alright go now." we started jogging while chanting "cobra kai" until we got on a stage. We started to do some tricks and fight each other. demetri got to hold a board up for hawk and he looked terrified as hawk broke the board.
