PART V
Everyone arrived in Prussia after a long ride in the ship. Remington was still so confused by the dream he had of Emerson. Remington tried to shake it out of his head best he could. He needed to seem present for the marriage and crowning of his brother.
They were directed through the castle to the rooms where they would be staying. The wedding was tomorrow, and all the servants were scurrying around to make sure everything was dusted, shiny, and overall perfect.
Remington sat on the bed that was in the room he was offered. He walked to his suitcase and pulled out the powder. He took a seat at the vanity in the room, staring into his eyes through the mirror. He saw Emerson in himself.
Remington brushed the thought away as he started powdering his face. Pale faces were loved at this time, and he wanted to look the best. He needed it too, as he was taught to powder his face since he was a young boy, his skin has been irritated by it for many years. More powder and more powder to cover the blemishes.
He heard as Sebastian was talking to his soon to be wife Elisabeth. You could hear the joyfulness in his voice as he spoke. He was happy to become King with his wife. They seemed like they would make a lovely couple, and amazing rulers. Remington could only hope for the same with his marriage.
He watched as many lanterns throughout the hallway turned off, signaling many were going to bed for the big day tomorrow. He figured he would do the same. He got into his sleepwear and lay down underneath his warm covers.
He thought back to the kids that would be missing him tonight, he missed them as well. He liked doing those actions, it made him feel normal. Yet that wasn't something a normal person would do. He blew out his lantern. And let sleep consume him.
He awoke to sounds of people talking and people running around. Today was going to be a busy full day in the castle. Heels clicked on the stone as Remington got off the bed.
He got dressed in his suit for today, touching up the powder on his face and fixing his hair. The marriage would be soon. On one hand he was excited for his brother, to see him live out his long awaited dream. On the other, he was angry. His brother promised him, that he would fix the Obsidian Empire. Yet he left Remington with that hefty task.
Remington turned his head as he heard a faint knock on his door. He opened it as he saw the smile of his soon to be wife. "Good morning Remington." She said. "Good morning to you too Amalie." He responded, offering her a small smile.
"You look very handsome, are you ready for the wedding?" "Why thank you Amalie, you look dashing. Yes I am. Let's go, shall we?" Remington asked.
She smiled as she hooked her arm around his. He shut the door and started walking outside. They were going to the chapel in the castle. Remington knew it would be full of people drunk off ale, he knew he was quite drunk. That's how they all survived this life.
He enjoyed being in the presence of his wife to be, he knew it was only because he was drunk, but he enjoyed the moment.
They arrived at the chapel and they took their seats. Everything moved quite fast for Remington's mind. He could have swore he saw a figure in the corner that looked like Emerson.
It seemed to be over quick to Remington, but he knew his mind was elsewhere. Next thing he knew he was outside in the courtyard where everyone was celebrating. He scanned the tables looking for something to eat...ale...sounds good.
