Car Picnics and Confessions

A week later (short chapter)

"Come on peach, car picnic!" My mom was here to pick me up from school today.

"Bye." I hugged Marcus and Maxine then ran and jumped on her back.
"Girl, you know I ain't strong." She wheezed out and I laughed.

We got in the car and there was already two picnic baskets, and we drove to a park and set up the food on the back of the car.

"So tell me what's been goin on with you and Marcus."
I sipped some lemonade and turned to her, "Honestly I like him, and I feel like we act more like a couple then best friends."

"More like best friends with benefits."
"Yes that's what we're telling people."
"Have y'all had sex again?" I was super comfortable talking to my mom about this kind of thing.

"No we only had it that one time, and it was pretty good."
"Well I'm glad your happy, it seems like the bakers are making you happy."

"Yeah I think they are too. What about you and this Paul guy?"
"I like him. He's nice and very handsome." I rolled my eyes and turned fully towards her.

"Please don't ruin this for us mom. You've always dated, broke up, then left. Please let this man be someone you can actually love."

"I'll try peach, I promise." She smiled at me and we hugged. I've always loved her hugs.

We always moved for one reason, breakups. She would date this guy, then they would breakup and we'd leave. To me moving away cause of a breakup seems, dramatic, but I don't say anything.

"Blame on my juice." I sung to myself as I walked downstairs. I was home alone since my mom was at an interview for an assistant position for the mayor.

I sat on the couch and turned on the tv. Bored as ever, I sighed and stood up putting my shoes on.

Marcus and Maxine were home alone too, cause there parents went to some convention so I decided to go and hang out with them.

I knocked on the door and Marcus opened it. I heard crying and I looked at Marcus confused and we walked to Max's room.

She was on her bed and crying her eyes out. "What's wrong with her?"
"Sophie said she doesn't like Max."

"Damn, she literally loved Sophie. But Sophie is a senior she won't be here for long."
"That's what I told Max but she's still sad."

"Well she'll be fine tomorrow, a little depressed but fine." We left her room and sat on the couch. I straddled Marcus and we just cuddled and watched
Gilmore Girls. He ran his thumb over my lips and I played with his fingers.

"I like you."
"I like you too, I'm gonna take you on a date soon."

"You asking or telling me?"
"Telling you." I laughed and kissed his cheek.
