6: Transfiguration, Potions & Parcels

A/N: I haven't read the book or seen the Harry Potter movies in about a year so sorry if I'm not accurate

The Next Day

Y/N's POV:

The first night was somewhat okay other than the Harry, Ron and my other roommates Neville, Dean & Seamus we up most of the night talking about spells they should learn while I was trying to sleep but with Dove at home it wasn't as bad seeing how she always tried to wake me up for crazy reasons.

I woke up earlier than usual. Harry, Dean, Neville and Seamus were sleeping peacefully while Ron was halfway off his bed snoring a storm. I closed the curtain on my bed and changed into my robe. It was only 6:15 and my first class, Transfiguration. Looking forward to this. Guess I should get a headstart. I went down to the common room and read my first years Transfiguration book. So far the Spells seem easy but like they say. Don't judge a book by its cover. Most spells were hard for most first years but with my parents they taught me the basics. So I should be able to do most of these spells. "Your up early." I heard a voice say behind me." I turned and see Hermione coming down from the girls dormitory in her robes. I smile lightly at this. "Always am." I said and went back to my book. Hermione must have walked over to me cause I could hear her voice become louder. "Your awfully quiet." She said as she sat across from me. I nodded and continued to read. "If I recall back from the bookstore a girl walked up to you asking questions." Hermione started which made me put my book down. Must be talking about Dove. "Is she your sister?" She asked where I nodded. This will probably be weird maybe I should actually try to have a conversation. "She made a fuss when she realized that I was gonna be gone for a few months." I said remembering Dove's tantrum before I left. "When she's upset about something she decides to speak Latin." I said which must of reminded her of me speaking Latin on the train. "Latin isn't really a known language in England or anywhere else." Hermione said as she leaned back in the chair across from me. "Dad's lineage is Latin-American. My first words were in latin which surprised my mother who was still learning the language at the time." I explained remembering the reaction Mum had where I said my first word. "Well we should head down to Breakfast before the other rush out for them." Hermione said as she stood up and grabbed her bags. I guess i could join. I got off the couch and walked over to my bag and noticed a letter in. Weird. I'll read it later. Hermione and I left the common room and went to the hall only to find the professor's and older years at the tables. Must mean Hermione and I are early birds.

After Breakfast we left to go to our first class. Transfiguration with Professor McGonagall. Hermione and I being the first to leave decided to get to class early. We walk into the room and see a cat on the desk where Professor McGonagall sits. "I wonder where Professor McGonagall is?" Hermione asked as she stared at the cat. I guess she doesn't know McGonagall is an animagus. "Good morning Professor." I said as I took a seat in the first row of the class. "Y/N don't be silly how can that be Professor McGonagall?" Hermione said as if I was crazy. "Haven't you read about 'animagus' yet?" I asked as I took out a paper and quill. Hermione nodded as I knew she was gonna speak about it. "Animagus are witches and wizards who can transfigurate into....animals." Hermione said as she realized why I asked her that. The cat lept off the desk and transfigured into Professor McGonagall. "I see you have been learning Y/N." McGonagall praised. "10 points to Gryffindor. Get your supplies out, class will start in 10 minutes." McGonagall said as she then transfigured back to the cat. I turn to see Hermione still in awe of what happened. "How did you know?" She asked quietly as she sat next to me. "Mom and Dad, but the fact Professor McGonagall's class is called 'Transfiguration' is also a dead give away." I said as Hermione pulled out her paper and quill.

After the 10 minutes passed the 1st years walked in the class waiting for Professor McGonagall to show up. Hermione and I already knew most of them will be surprised to see Professor McGonagall shift from the cat, but some of the other may have been told or that class name is a dead giveaway. The first years took their seat and waited for Professor McGonagall to show as they grabbed their supplies. "Oi!" I heard a whisper yell from Seamus. "Where's Professor McGonagall and what's with the cat?" He asked which made me chuckle. Suddenly the Professor transfigured into her human form and surprised them. "I'm right here Mr. Finnigan." McGonagall said softly to the shocked Irish boy. "See as today is the first day you will write down the basics of Transfiguration, that being," she turned towards the chalk board. "What's written on the board and in your books." Professor McGonagall said as I did what she asked and wrote down what was on the board. Hermione did the same as people were still shocked but finally pulling out their books, papers and quills.
