I wake up under three blankets and aching. I hear a faint snore across the room, but first Newt is striding into the room with some soup, I hear him talking to Clint the medjack looking after me. I let him leave, I don't need to talk to him for a good while. Clint tiptoes over and I mumble for him to "Get out" but of course he doesn't, instead he sets down the food and pulls a chair over.

"He has been here the two days you were out ya know." He grunts with a laugh. "Just couldn't shake him off, says he needs to apologise for not warnin' ya about the tree, says he was angry and just let it happen, says he should have said anything to make ya' stop walking"

As I force myself up I see the owner of the snore, it is in fact Gally. His hand propping up his head, in the most awkward and uncomfortable position, even though there are plenty free beds in the infirmary he chose the seat closest to me!

I shrug it off, surely big bad Gally wouldn't have wanted to apologise to a shank like me?

Sighing Clint, shoved the food on my lap and whispered "Wake him soon, he needs to get to work, Alby won't be pleased if he is late." Nodding, I make a start on my breakfast. As Clint leaves, I thank him for the help and he shuts the door.

---

After my bowl is finished I set it to the side and swing my legs off the side of the bed. Suddenly my head is throbbing and I feel dizzy, I gag and find the bowl as I chuck up my breakfast, I must have been loud because suddenly Gally is next to me holding back my long hair and rubbing my back.

I wipe my mouth and turn around with a puzzled look, I squint and say 'My names Ivy by the way'. He nods slowly as if he is trying to remember something important. Then I say matter-of-factly, you have work. As he jumps up he shouts 'Thanks slinthead' and slams the door behind him...

---

Attempting to get up again, I finally succeed. I step towards the door and sneak out, I need to do something before I loose my mind. After sauntering around The Glade- I heard Clint call the place that as I left the infirmary- I find Newt and apologise, then I go blank realising Gally didn't apologise to me as he wanted to. Newt said he could find me a job cleaning the dishes with Frypan, a tall muscular, dark skinned boy that took pride in his work- if I really wanted to help that badly.

Frypan got me to work on cleaning, after all the dishes were cleaned he gave me a carrot to chomp on while he got to work on dinner. I got off the chair I was sitting on, and stumbled to the cupboard near the stove, I found various spices. As I rattled through the spices I found one and smiled, he left the pot of meat bubbling beside me to go and chop up more vegetables. I took the opportunity and added a few shakes of the spice and mixed everything together. As a line accumulated I grabbed the pot and tested the soft meat inside. Heat from the spice gave a burst of extra flavour- I didn't tell anyone I had added chilli powder incase they didn't trust me.

I went to the front of the que and started dishing up. Boy after boy thank me, but when Gally appears, I shove the pot away. I gave him a look to say, I'm waiting! As I tapped my fingers on the counter I said "Dude, I've been waiting for that apology you wanted to give me".

Gally rolled his eyes and whispers the words "I'm sorry Ivy".

I shove the pot infront of him and gave everyone else their meal.

---

The night went on, Clint came up and said for me to sleep in the medjacks again tonight. So when I fell tired I got up and went to the medjacks. I heard foot stomps as I met the door. As I turn round Gally shouts out "Are you ok Ivy?" As I tuck a loose strand of hair behind my ear I nod, and a single tear rolls down my cheek. Only now did I realise how much I missed where ever home was. Gally comes over cautiously and places a hand on my shoulder. Asking with confusion he says "Well then why are you crying, something's wrong."

"I just miss home, if I still have a home." Between sobs I start laughing, because I miss what I can't grasp a memory of.

Due to the look on Gallys face showing utter confusion, I stroll towards the door and creak it open, as I do, Gally is turning me around and pulling me into his warm embrace. I don't fight back, instead I shove my face into his warm chest and listen to his steady heart.

As he pulls away I turn round back into the door that closed but this time leaving me with a small nose bleed, it starts us off laughing but he gets me through the door and into bed safely.

"I could stay here if you want". I tell him to go get some good sleep for work tomorrow, as I slip into the darkness of sleep he leaves.
