To my love,

I write this to you in your wake, in remembrance of your sacrifice as the wondrous soul you always were...for I know, your spirit would be euphorically jubilant at the art of writing in your honorable commemoration. Or rather, you would simply be contemptuous with the fact that I at least tried to honor you in a way that may bring upon you joy, never mind the apparent fact that this is most indeed not my forte, my love.

Impossible Possibility

by Seraphina Augustin to Artemis DeLaurent

the odds of the universe existing should have been impossible.

the chances of the universe expanding and simply existing should have been slim to none,

and yet,

it was inevitably possible

because it did happen.

the odds of you and i existing at the same time must be next to impossible.

and yet,

it was inevitably possible

because here we are.

we exist.

we existed

you existed

and somehow we were in the same place at the same time,

predestined to meet

i think impossibility is beautiful

a mere chance in time, of every interaction to ever exist

an inevitability of events that leads to the next

impossible possibility

Words can never describe the everlasting love you gifted me with. I know you shall always be with me, protecting me from the shadows from which you now reside. The inevitable journey that led up to our brief fortitude of happiness, I will never forget. Thank you, Artemis.

I told the stars about you. The moon, the planets, and everything in between. The stars would be so proud if they knew their dust created you. And with you, created the beginning of a new era. One in which I will lead in your honor. The whole of the heavens will know of my beloved. And forever, as long as it is in my grasp, I shall tell the story of you, Artemis DeLaurent.

With love always, Seraphina Augustin

I lit the paper and watched as the flickering flames of the fire burned my thoughts into nothingness. The ashes dissipated into the embrace of the heavens. The moon once more reminded me of her, as it always did. So beautiful. So bright. Yet so far away and perpetually intangible. The moon loves so deeply for the world it protects. It only appears at night for those who wish to witness its stellar nature. It doesn't steal away the darkened sky with its shining presence, but instead it uncovers true beauty of the dark. I peered up at the night sky, forevermore holding Artemis in my heart, and I could almost hear her saying, "The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?"
