The quiet calm of your life in Poland had always been your refuge

The quiet calm of your life in Poland had always been your refuge. You and Erik had built a life away from the chaos of the world, finding solace in each other and in raising your daughter, Nina. The weight of the past still lingered, but you tried to put it behind you, focusing on the simple joys—like greeting Erik as he returned home, the warmth of his arms around you, and the soft laughter of Nina playing in the backyard.

But that calm shattered in an instant.

The frantic knock at the door, the storm of fear in Erik's eyes—everything changed when he arrived home, panic in his movements. You had never seen him so unsettled. Not since the days of fleeing, hiding, fighting.

"I saved him, Y/n... I saved that man... but someone saw me," Erik said, his voice sharp with urgency. You tried to soothe him, telling him that he had done a good thing, but his worries were too deep. If he was exposed, you all were exposed.

"You don't understand," Erik insisted, pacing, his hands running through his hair. "We can't stay here anymore. It's too dangerous now."

You didn't want to believe it. This was your home, the home you had made for Nina. But Erik's fears were grounded in reality. This wasn't a simple life of quiet security—it was a life under constant threat, one that could be torn apart at any moment.

You kissed him, trying to calm him, but the unease in his eyes made your heart ache. "I'll get Nina," you told him, your voice low as you left the room to find your daughter.

But she wasn't where you expected. Her room was empty, and as you looked out the window, the sight of her was nowhere to be found. Panic began to creep into your chest as you rushed back to Erik. "She's not in her room," you said, voice trembling. "And I don't see her out back."

You and Erik ran outside, shouting her name into the woods, your heart pounding with the fear of what might be happening. "Nina!" Erik's voice broke through the trees, echoing back at you.

"Nina!" You yelled, again and again, the words growing more desperate with each passing second. The shadows of the forest seemed to close in around you.

And then you heard it—a rustling, a sound that made your heart leap into your throat. You and Erik ran toward the noise, pushing through the trees, only to find yourself face to face with a group of men. They had Nina.

Erik froze, his hand gripping yours as he held you back. You were about to charge in, but he stopped you. His voice was calm but firm as he slowly approached them, a quiet authority radiating from him. But your heart was in your throat, fear for your daughter twisting inside of you.

"Nina. Are you alright?" Erik called out, his voice low and filled with concern.

"She's fine," one of the men said, but his words did nothing to ease the panic building inside you.

"Then let her go!" you demanded, stepping forward, ready to fight for your daughter.

"We will," another man said, his voice flat and uninterested. "We just wanted to have a word."
