"Fuck you."All eyes suddenly turned to him, the shock and disbelief as clear as day.
"What did you say," Superman demanded in a cold, hard voice.
"Fuck you. I said 'fuck you'. Do you want me to say it again? Fuck you."
Superman walked towards the boy, "Now, I don't like that tone-", only to be dragged down to his seat before he got anywhere close, something binding him to his chair.
The Kryptonian looked up only to see the rest of his team-mates, besides Batman and Cyborg, also seemed to be stuck in place. He saw that the bat themed vigilante was staring at the front of the room, he followed his line of sight and reached his target. Apparently it was Captain Marvel, the child they were talking of only a few moments ago, he seemed to be keeping them in place with magic(something the team forgot he could do). It took the shape of a rope, one similar to Wonder Woman's, but it looked wild, like something that couldn't be tamed. It seemed to be going in every direction. Right, left. Up, down. It reminded the Kyrptonian of static, or maybe lightning was a better word for it.
"You've had your turn to talk, now it's mine." Marvel said with a look of annoyance.
" I have done nothing but been there for you. When you needed backup, I was there. When you needed someone to watch the Young Justice, I was there. When you needed someone to talk to, I was there. When you needed someone to listen, I was there." Marvel had tears starting to well in his eyes.
"I've been doing the same things you do. I go on patrol, I help people, I save people. And you want to take this away because I didn't tell you my age!?" A couple in the League, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman, turned their heads away in shame, while the rest, minus Cyborg and Batman, stared at the "man" with faces of stone.
"We all voted that it shouldn't be mandatory to reveal our identities, that means age included." Marvel spit out the words, as if getting something nasty off his tongue.
"I had every right to not tell you who I was, what I looked like, and how old I was."
"But you're a child, Billy." Superman said harshly.
"A child that is as strong as you, in fact, I'm stronger."
Before anyone could say anything, Marvel jumped back in.
"You know, one of the reasons I'm even on this League is because I'm supposed to be the one to take you down." The champion glared at the man.
"I'm everything you are and more." Marvel said looking down at his "idol".
"You are a child, a child that shouldn't have been allowed in this team, a child that shouldn't be playing superhero when lives are at stake."
"You take that back." Marvel said with tears about to spill onto his cheeks.
"Take back what? The truth?!"
"You're just a little boy that's been playing grown-up. Nothing more."
Everyone looked at the alien in shock, surprised that he went that far. Sure, the boy lied about his age, but that doesn't mean you should be so harsh.
"You have no right. You have no idea what I've went through. You have no idea what lead me here. You have no right to claim that I'm just here for fun!" Marvel started to slowly advance on the man, taking his binds off with magic in the process.
"I have went through hell and back for this team. I have watched people die. I have stopped more invasions than I can count with you. I saved people. People believed in me. People believed in me to save them."
Superman walked back as the champion got closer.
"You have no right to say that I'm only here to play hero. I'm not here for the fame or glory. I'm not here to fill some narcissistic dream. I'm here to help people, here to actually do something that I couldn't do before. "
Before Superman could say anything else, Batman cut in.
"That's enough,Clark."
"The reason for this meeting was to vote if Marvel was going to stay on the team, not to accuse of things that aren't true."
"But he-"
"But he nothing. Marvel has been a part of this team for as long as the majority of us. And none of you had no complaints about him. Sure, he acted childish, so does Hal and Barry, but like those two, he still got his job down without any complications in the end."
"And we can't move him into the Young Justice." Wonder Woman pitched in.
"He's one of my father's champions. A transformation is required for him to use that strength."
"And I'm pretty sure we'll be getting weird looks if we just let a grown man on the YJ." Cyborg joked.
"But, he's in danger if he stays on this team any longer." Superman tried to reason.
"And he'll be in even more danger if we let him go. You think he's just going to stop being a hero without a team to back him up? Because if you think so, then you are wrongly mistaken." Batman glared at the alien.
"Everyone in favor of letting Marvel stay?"
