The Great Crystal

No ones POV

Vaan ran over to the save crystal for the 7th time that hour. "Where are they? How do I get out of here?" Vaan dragged a hand down his face and sat by the shimmering, tall blue crystal.

The group just got done defeating Ultima, who was now attached to Vaan, but they were overwhelmed with bombs which resulted in Vaan being separated from the group. And being separated and lost in the Great Crystal is practically a death sentence.

Vaans been alone for whats seemed like days now, but has only been a few hours. He was getting worried, he laid against the crystal, giving up. He would rather stay in the safest place he knows then having to wander around, he knew the others would eventually find him. Maybe.

"Don't think like that Vaan, Balthier would never let you go..would he?" He frowned and grabbed the Zodiak Spear. "They would come back for this if they don't come back for me.." He squeezed it and placed it back, sighing. "They'll come back for me.."

Balthier looked over as the others headed to the last pedestal, heading back into Giruvegan, leaving Fran and Balthier to look for Vaan. He sighed and looked up at Fran. "Can you sense him?"

Fran closed her eyes, her and Vaan had a special connection. It was as though he was strong in presence of mist such as the viera were. She nods. "He's by the crystal, I can lead us there. I can sense him, and he seems distraught...disappointed."

Balthier stopped in his tracks and looked up at her. "Disappointed? With whom?"

The viera looked down at her partner. "Himself."

"Lead the way, double time." He rushed with her, fleeing from all the creatures to reach Vaan, they finally made It to the 20th pedestal and used it to transport themselves to where Vaan was, fleeing from the creatures before entering the safe area.

Balthier ran to Vaan who was asleep by the crystal. "Vaan." He kissed the top of the younger males forehead. "Vaan we're here." He caressed his cheek.

Vaan opened his eyes slowly, sensing Fran and smiled his best. "Hey.." He placed his hand over Balthiers and looked up at them. "You guys actually came back?"

Balthier looked at Vaan and frowned. "Of course we came back..why wouldn't we?"

"Let's get out of here." Vaan quickly changed the subject and got up, grabbing his bag and fleed with the others to the pedestal and continued fleeing out of the Crystal before reaching Giruvegan and heading to the safe area, meeting with the others.

Vaan walked into the area and was almost tackled by Penelo in a crushing hug. "Penelo!" He laughs and returned the hug.

Penelo smiled. "I'm so glad you're okay, we're going to set up camp outside Giruvegan and ensure we all get some rest." Penelo smiled.

Vaan nods. "Sounds good, let's get going. I'm exhausted."

The group trailed back to the outside of Giruvegan, Vaan and Balthier trailing behind them and walked to their little campsite area and set up their shared tents. Penelo and Ashe sharing, Fran doesn't sleep so she doesn't need a tent, Basch has his own tent, and Balthier and Vaan share a tent.

Vaan finished the setting up on the inside of the tent, setting the air mattress up and making it. Placing the large and long pillow on the upper side and placed two blankets onto the bed for them to share. He sighed and closed the tent, zipping it up so he could get changed.

Balthier unzipped the tent and walked in, zipping It back up. "Hey." He looked over at Vaan who was getting changed into pajamas and smiled. "Nice view." He chuckled.

Vaan sighed and nods, laying under the covers after placing his pajamas to the side to be put back on in the morning. He nuzzled into the pillow.

"You not joining us for dinner?" Balthier looked over to the sulky boy.

"I'm not hungry." He mumbled, closing his eyes.

The sky pirate sat next to him, pulling the younger male into his lap and kissed his cheek. "What's troubling you..Fran sensed you, there was something weird happening. Why were you disappointed?"

Vaan went stiff and looked down. "I don't really want to talk about it." He whispered.

"You may not want too, but it seems like you do." He rubbed his arm comfortingly. "It's just me and you.."

Vaan frowned. "I didn't think any of you guys were coming back for me, I was shocked when I sensed Fran and felt you." He rested his head against Balthiers shoulder, looking up at Balthier who just gave Vaan a soft smile.

Balthier kissed his cheek. "You know that no matter what, we would always come back for you. We had to beg Penelo not to come because we wanted her safe, we almost had her come because she was so desperate. We love you Vaan, we all make mistakes, it doesn't mean we value less than others though okay? I will always love you Vaan, always. Just remember that..please." He kissed his cheek. "Now, do you want me to bring some of dinner into here for you? Or do you want to eat with everyone outside?"

"I just want to sleep. I'm not hungry." Vaan closed his eyes a little.

"I will wake you in 30 minutes then I will bring you out to eat with us, you need to eat with everyone." He held him close.

Vaan nods. "Okay.." He closed his eyes, falling asleep in his lovers hold, taking in the comfort of the Sky Pirate who just smiled and just continued holding him.
