Mosphoran Highwaste

On their way to Archades

No ones POV

"Vaan are you alright?" Penelo walked over to her adoptive brother with concern. "You seem off, when we were fighting those Humbabas you weren't as fast paced as you usually are." She observed the pale figure.

Vaan looked over, he knew he was gonna get caught. But he knew how important getting to Archades was to Balthier and the others (but most importantly Balthier). He just gave a soft smiled and nods. "Of course, just a tad tired. It has been an exhausting few days, wouldn't you agree?"

Penelo frowned. "I don't believe you." She crossed her arms and huffed, walking over towards Fran.

The Viera woman looked down at the irritated teenager and cocked her head to the right slightly. "Is everything alright Penelo?"

"No, somethings wrong with Vaan. He won't tell me of course but something is seriously wrong and I want to make sure he's okay." She looked up at Fran. "Considering this is gonna be the longest trek we've had to endure, everyone should be in tip top shape." She sighed in frustration.

Fran nods in agreement. "We should bring this trouble up with Balthier, you know Vaan will listen to him whether he agrees or not. However, we could also let it slide until Vaan exposes what is occurring. Did he say what the trouble was?"

"He just said he was tired, but I don't believe it for one second." She frowned, looking towards Vaan. "He looks so pale and tired."

Fran thought to herself. "Let us see how long he can continue on, if he reaches a point to where he needs to come clean we will set up camp and ensure he is safe."

Penelo nods. "Should we let Balthier know?"

"I can tonight when we camp at the Salikawood. He seems stressed enough then he already is."

Penelo nods and frowned. "But you know that Vaan is no burden on Balthier, even if it does take time away from an important mission, especially in this case. Vaan is Balthiers first concern." She looked up at the viera.

She nods. "I agree, lets just see how the gods decide to play it out." She smiled and continued on with the journey.

Vaan sighed and grabbed the Zodiak Spear as they headed towards another Python, he really hated snakes and had no patience or energy to deal with them right now. He fought with the others, but at a much slower pace. His body ached terribly, and the thought, smell, or even sound of food would make him vomit at any point. He put the spear back and held his pounding head. He knew he would have to tell the others soon, but he wanted to ensure they remained on track. So he pushed all the feelings to the back of his head as best as he could and sighed.

The Sky Pirate took notice of Vaans behavior and walked over to him. "Vaan?" He asked softly, pulling the boy towards the back of the group as they crossed over Halny Crossing to get to the Salikawood.

Vaan looked over at his lover and nods. "Yes Balthier?"

"Are you alright? You seem, odd." He placed a comforting hand on his lovers back, being careful with the spear. "Do we need to rest?"

"No, I'm alright. No reason to stop now for no reason, let's get to our camping spot and make sure we finish out the plan for once we get to Draklor Laboratory." Vaan pushed away the urge to just hug Balthier and tell him he wasn't feeling good. The feeling to be cared for such as a sick child would be.

Bathier raised an eyebrow, grabbing Vaans hand and intertwining their fingers. "Hey Princess, we set camp up here for the night. The Path of Hours is one of the safest places here in the Salikawood."
