Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face
You told me how proud you were but I walked away
If only I knew what I know today
Ooh Ooh
It's been months since you've heard your best friend's voice. Each day, you would sit by his bedside and tell him about current events. You would go on and on about work, and how Luciano wouldn't get off your ass about Matt asking to marry you already.
Every now and then, you would think about the incident.
Him, Matthew, and couple others were in the car, taking a drive. Matthew was driving, and seemed to swerve off the road.
Everyone was injured and awake, while Alfred was put in a coma.
You were visiting your boyfriend, Matthew, in the hospital that same night when he told you what happened.
"I-It's...It's all my fault. I'm the reason everyone's in this mess...", he explained, beating himself up over it.
I would hold you in my arms
I would take the pain away
Thank you for all you've done
Forgive all your mistakes.
It was another day in the hospital when you visited Alfred. Today, you were telling him about how much you want him back.
"Come on, Alfred...you gotta at least hear me, right?" You looked at the ground, sighing sadly.
You reached over and held his hand, holding it as if a man were proposing to a woman. The silence in the room was irritating you, so you continued a song you had stuck in your head for days.
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To hear your voice again.
Sometimes I wanna call you
but I know you won't be there
You ended up falling asleep in that chair, your hand still gripping Alfred's. You felt something move near your head, a twitch, actually.
You woke up to look at Alfred, the only thing moving was his chest from slight breathing. You were ready to put your head back down when he twitched again, this time it was his hand.
Oh, I'm sorry for blaming you
For everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself by hurting you
The next thing you knew, he was having a seizure. You paniced and called for help, standing up from your chair and backing away as the doctors came rushing in. Your hand hesitated to release Alfred's as you were escorted out of the room.
Some days I feel broke inside but I won't admit
Sometimes I just wanna hide 'cause it's you I miss
And it's so hard to say goodbye when it comes to this, ooh, whoa
Would you tell me I was wrong?
Would you help me understand?
Are you looking down upon me?
Are you proud of who I am?
You watched as the doctors worked, keeping your face pushed against the glass in examination. Your eyes darted back and forth between the heart monitor and Alfred. The bars were going heywire, and you could feel your chest tighten with anxiety.
You didn't know how to deal with this, and your concern was getting the best of you. You stormed into the room and rushed to your friend's bedside, yelling.
There's nothing I wouldn't do
To have just one more chance
To look into your eyes and see you looking back
Oh, I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself, oh, oh, oh.
"Alfred! Wake up! Please! Alfred!", you were hysterical.
Warm tears fell from your eyes like bullets, and you couldn't control your emotions. The doctors had to force you out of the room. Your hand was outstretched, trying to reach for him and expecting him to reach back.
If I had just one more day
I would tell you how much that I've missed you since you've been away
Oh, it's dangerous
It's so out of line
To try and turn back time
You could hear the heart monitor with an elongated beeping, indicating your best friend had passed. You refused to believe it, and you only cried out even more.
"No! Alfred, please! Wake up! Wake up!", you yelled louder.
The door was shut and locked from the inside, leaving you out of the room to cry.
I'm sorry for blaming you
for everything I just couldn't do
And I've hurt myself
You leaned your head against the door, able to hear the monitor from the other side. Oddly, you were able to feel a pair of arms wrap around your shoulders, a cold squeeze that you could only feel a little of. The sensation felt familiar, but you couldn't hug back.
"Please", you whispered, sliding down the door and to your knees, "Come back to me".
By hurting you
