"Manik I told you to not let this happen. What the hell were you doing there if you can't follow some simple instructions of mine? I told you to not pressurise her to say anything. It may cause serious damage to her brain...still.."

Mukti throws her hands in the air in defeat. Her annoyance is justified. I stare down. Suddenly Cabir intervenes,

"Dr Vardhan, we did exactly the same you told us but, in a flow, I asked about that letter. But that was not the reason for her attack. I think she suddenly recalled her, I mean our baby's death and freaked out."

Mukti delivers a sarcastic smile to Cabir and replies,

"Thank God you at least accepted that it was your baby but, Mr Murthy, it doesn't matter now anymore. The damage has already been done for her. Now, pray to God that this panic attack doesn't cost any havoc on her health. She suffered a lot, Mr Murthy. Please don't be the reason for more pain in her life."

Mukti's voice gets choked. I know she considers Navu as her own sister. She takes care of her not only as a doctor but also as a well-wisher. Her words cast a layer of agony on Cabir's face. He bends his head and after a brief moment, stares up. His eyes are brimming with tears.

"I know you both consider me as the main culprit of Navya's life which is the biggest tragedy. I don't know whether you both will believe me or not but she was, she is and she will be the only and last love of my life. The same pain I went through what she is having for the last two years. The only difference is, my pain was mingled with heartbreak where she always had the hope of our love. I didn't know anything about our baby, she never told me anything about it. Neither I knew that the letter she wrote to me was false. I tried to search for her like an insane person because I loved her, I loved her from the bottom of my heart. (He pokes on his left chest) Believe me, I never wanted to be the reason for her pain. How can I be? I love her...damn it..."

Cabir palms his face. His emotional outburst makes Mukti and I mum. Before we can say further a nurse storms in.

"Ma'am, the new patient gained her sense. She is taking a name again and again."

The nurse states in a hurry. We frown at her in a query. She again informs,

"She wants to see Mr Cabir. She is blabbering this name only."

We all eye each other. Cabir leaps up from his chair and rushes towards the door but halts and turns at Mukti if he remembers something. His eyes are palpably asking,

"Can I?.."

Mukti nods with a brief smile. Cabir exits from the room.

"Should we go? If anything happens to her again?"

I become worried.

"Yes, we will but only as listeners. Let her talk to him. It is a good sign that after this shock, she can recognise Cabir. She needs Cabir and I guess Cabir needs her too. Maybe our risk-taking has brought a new turn in their life. Let it flow in this direction. Let them be healed, Manik. All problems will be solved automatically."

Mukti utters while gets up from her chair. I give a nod to her decision and we both head to Navya's cabin.

..................................................

I stealthily come out of Ajja's room. The note is still in my hand which has Navya's signatures. My mind is still numb and my heart is still sceptic.

"This is not enough. I need more proof. To clear this mystery, I need more evidence."

I utter in my mind.
