        From Me to You

If I asked you to stay with me, would you?

To leave behind all that you know in hopes of pursuing a dream you do not yet understand.

To chase the endless and pointless tales of time, that us mortals may never comprehend.

        To fly.

Would you resent me for all that you might've had?

Would you slowly grow to hate me when I can no longer discern the differences between loneliness and sadness?

        To fall.

Or perhaps you would choose to leave me behind when you can no longer recognize the figure that stands beside you.

When you can no longer sympathize with the individual truths that are told; how each story unfolds only to weave more tales and questions to interpret.

        To run.

Would you stay despite being aware of the madness I hide?

Would you try and tolerate the secret and lies?

        To drown.

I guess my first question is fundamentally flawed. Rather I shall ask of thee,

If I asked you to love me, could you?

Gen Asagiri liked to think of himself as someone who didn't get jealous easily. As a mentalist, it was easy for him to figure out where he stood with each individual. Through observation he could tell if someone liked him or not; if they would be compatible with his own teasing nature; and through the simple process of troubleshooting, how they would react to each other.

Of course, like all rules, there were exceptions.

But Gen was a big boy. He could admit it when he was jealous, though dealing with that jealousy was... another issue.

When the mentalist had first met Senku, he wanted so desperately to dislike him. His life would be set if he could just do the task Tsukasa had set up for him. Everything would've just been smooth sailing. Gen wasn't really sure what he was expecting before he met Senku. Perhaps he was hoping for someone so horrible that anyone could dislike them; someone that made it easy for others to dislike them.

He was really just kidding himself though. Somewhere deep down inside, Gen knew that he would have difficulty disliking Senku. Anyone that had managed to get someone like (Y/n) to care for them must've been a good person. There just wasn't any other explanation.

After the attempted murder of him Gen was eager to get back into action. Not just was he excited for the promise Senku had promised him, but he was curious about how things were going in the small primitive town.

Of course, considering Tsukasa hadn't asked him to head back, Gen didn't really have an excuse when he was away from town. While he would still have to spend many of his days in Tsukasa's empire. Whether it was because he was doing retcon for the kingdom of science or just throwing suspicion to the side.

And, to see a certain someone.

Despite Senku telling Gen that it would be best if he didn't hang around the trio too often Gen still wanted to stick by (Y/n)'s side. Not that he would have admitted it to Senku, though.

Gen had been gone for a total of four days before returning back to Tsukasa's camp. The ever increasing number of revived people made it easier for the mentalist to slip away and for longer periods of time.
