" WHAT WAS THE POINT OF ALL THE SUFFERING AND LIVES WE RISK? "

SCARLETT RIVERS LIKED TO JOKE A LOT, mainly to hide the fact she didn't have a childhood and that she was completely apathetic.

It was sort of true, but it didn't mean it hurt less.

She just didn't know how to handle emotions. She could crack a few jokes, but that was it. All she felt was satisfaction for being able to do so, no happiness.

Scarlett also knew she was messed in the head. She had always been reminded by her father. She didn't want to get into her backstory anymore though.

Meet Scarlett Rivers, the girl who fell in love with the right person at the wrong time. Maybe you'll learn from her why love isn't as worth it as people make it seem.

* * *

It was still dark outside, but the redheaded girl knew she needed to get up before her father came into her room and dragged her out himself, and he was a very violent person. Scarlett still had a bruise by her stomach, but she had told Ethan Nakamura, her best friend, repeatedly that it was okay and her dad had did it a lot, so she was used to it.

It didn't seem to calm Ethan down, but Scarlett shrugged it off as irrational fear.

She rolled out of bed, quickly snatching a brush on her drawer and fixing her hair before tying it in a bun. She went over to her closet and picked out a white shirt and some jogging pants, throwing them on. She grabbed her celestial bronze flip blade, setting it on her belt strap before she went out and locked her room.

Just as she turned to face outside, she ran into her father who looked like he was just about to enter. He raised an eyebrow at her before rolling his eyes and gestured her to follow him.

Scarlett resisted the urge to mock his face in the most ridiculous way possible, and settled on an expressionless exterior, as she was constantly reminded to keep.

The dark eyed girl looked around the halls of the cruise ship, still very unimpressed with her father for allying with such a petty case. Well, Scarlett definitely had no love for her mother, Demeter, but she wouldn't start a whole ass war just because of her family issues. That was the gods' job, not hers.

But as she always did, she didn't bother to speak up. She'd just get her shoulder dislocated by her father's very strong grip.

Her eyes raked over a trio of teenagers by a door, seemingly having an argument in hushed tones. What really caught her attention was their shirts. A bright orange shade with a pegasus logo.
