My Life is a Lie.

chapter four.

                     SOPHIA'S POV

I close the door and sigh softly. I try rubbing my eyes so it doesn't look too noticeable that I've been crying the entire night I've been up here. knowing how protective Mike is, and considering that he knows the situation thanks to Maddie, he'll probably want to go hunt Jake down.

the next morning i walk downstairs and they all turn to look at me. Mike examining my eyes.

"Soph.." Mike says softly.

"hmm?" i say smiling.

"you okay?" he asks.

"we were worried about you." Kyle says.

"yeah i'm fine. why wouldn't i be?" i say shrugging casually and walking to the kitchen.

i can feel their eyes on me.

"Maddie's sister is gonna pick me up in an hour." i said.

"where you going?" Mike asks eating an apple.

"i usually go out with Maddison and Jake every Wednesday since it's Mad's day off." i said.

we always had one dedicated day out of the week to hang out ever since we were kids. all three of our moms would call each other, deciding a play date for us. but ever since mom died i kind of had to stop depending on her for a lot of things.

"what? you mean yesterday's Jake?" he asks confused.

"is there another Jake that we know?" i ask.

"what i think Mike's tryna say is are you okay to be with him?" Kyle butts in.

"yes! why wouldn't i be!" i said.

"well it's just that yesterday-" Mike says but i cut him off.

"Maddie's sister is outside." i lied. "i'll see you guys later, k?" i said closing the door shut behind me.

i waited on the front porch until Addie showed up. Addie was Madisons twin sister they were honestly different in a lot of ways but also very similar. Maddison is terrified to drive, which is why she makes Addison to. i find it funny honestly. how she depends on her siblings just like i depend on Mike. me and Maddie were like 2 peas in a pod ever since we were kids. and i hope that never changes.

i hear two honks coming from the car indicating that Addie was here. finally.

i ran down the stairs avoiding Mike in case he saw me leaving just now, when i told him that i left 20 mins ago.

"hey girl what's up!" i said.

"hey babe, just the usual. busy week honestly." she said.

"that's good." i said smiling

"what you're not gonna say hi to me, bozo?" Maddie says.

i turn around and laugh when i realize Jake was behind my seat. damn it.

"hey." i said chuckling.

"hey Jake." i said quickly and then turned around. thank God i didn't choose to sit in the back. Maddie probably left the passenger seat open for me so i wouldn't have to endure an awkward conversation with Jake.

when we get to the cafe we all sat down next to the window. i could feel Jake's eyes on me. like he knows something's wrong. i really hope he doesn't ask me to talk.

"hey guys i'm gonna go order, i'll be right back." Maddie says like she usually does. she gets a discount for every drink because she's the employee of the month so she usually orders for us.

for some reason the world hates me and Addie decided to join her, which left me and Jake alone.

i do this thing where i pretend i'm busy on my phone but i think it's too obvious that i'm not.

"hey Soph.." Jake says. "is.. is everything, like, okay? did i say something or do something to hurt you?" he asks.

"no.. i'm fine, why do you think that?" i said trying to act confused of his allegations.

" well, it's just that ever since I asked you to be my project partner.. you've been acting.. weird. I know that it just happened last night but on the way back home you were acting kind of distant. and in the car on the way here you said hey like you were being held at gun point, instead of being chirpy like usual." he said.

i was shocked. i wanted to break the nearest window and jump out of it.

"um, no everything's fine. i'm just stressed you know. i um ever since Mike, came home and all it's been hectic." i said chuckling slightly.

" are you sure because you seem happy to see Mads but not happy to see me." he said raising his eyebrows in his worried look. the same worried look everyone gave me at my mom's funeral. it was pity.

" Jake I told you everything's fine." i said.

" do you know what I'm not gonna believe you anymore, I'm done letting you hide your feelings. I'm your friend you're supposed to come to me when you need help not bottle them up." he said then stood up and walked out making my heart hurt. he's never done that. even when we had arguments, he's never stood up and just walked out leaving me dumb founded.

Maddison came back with the drinks and was just as shocked as me.

"and the guy didn't even have the decency to at least put the money on the table before he left?" Addie says.

Maddie elbows her and gives her a look.

" what did you guys talk about?" Maddison asks.

"he um.. realized I was acting weird since yesterday and confronted me about it and gave me this whole lecture about how 'he's my friend' and 'I need to come to him when I'm upset' but the problem is if I tell him the reason it might ruin our friendship." i said lowly.

"what so he just walked out?!" Maddison asks.

"you just saw his legs getting up and get out, dumb ass!" Addison says.

o.m.g! why would Jake do that?! do you think he's mad at Sophia now? is Sophia gonna tell him why she was really upset? ARE THEY STILL FRIENDS?! 😫 stay tuned! big things are coming!!
