Y/N: Babe he isn't going to kill you.

Jay: Yea right. Can't I just pick you up somewhere else?

Y/N: No.

Jay: Okay I'll be there in 10. Love you.

Y/N: Love you too.

You click send on your last message and make yourself comfortable in your dad's office. You follow your dad with your eyes, he's awfully quiet. You aren't surprised. He's quiet when he's focused and when you're the chief and in charge of a whole firehouse focus is necessary. "Dad I think Jays afraid of you."

"What? Am I making him uncomfortable or something?" He looks at you from the corner of his eye.

You raise your hands, "I don't know. Although I did expect you to have a different approach this time."

Your dad lowers his papers and states right back at you. Every firefighter at firehouse 51 would've probably passed out from his glare but not you. Your dad is a big softie. You smile at him and he returns the smile in an instant.

"Okay you got me," He leans in his chair. "Maybe I tried to test him." Just like he tried to test all of your boyfriends.

You can't help but let out a small bubble of laughter. Of course he did. He tried to see what Jay was made of. "And?"

"He's a tough guy Y/N I'll give you that," Your smile grows in pride. Jay and your dad are practically the same and they don't even realize it. Tough on the outside but cuddly bears on the inside.

You sit and chat with your dad for the next 10 minutes. Several different times you're interrupted by his noisy firefighters but other than that it's been peaceful. Even though Jay doesn't realize it, your badass dad accepted him a long time ago.

When a knock on your dad's office door is heard you turn around and meet eyes with Jay. "You weren't outside so I thought you might still be in here. Chief Boden." He nods his head in respect towards your dad and you can't help but roll your eyes. Your dad is eating his nervousness happily, "Please Jay. His name is Wallace. There's no need to be formal. Right dad?"

It's like you pulled your dad out of his trance, he blinks a few times before smiling, "Of course. But you know when we're all on the field, chief is good."

You know Jay most probably wants to tell him that he should call him detective too but you figured he's being quiet out of respect. And your dad is just enjoying this too much that it isn't fair to Jay. You stand up from your chair and walk around your dad's desk before kissing his cheek, "Say hi to Donna and Terrance for me."

"Will do Y/N. Jay take care of her please."

Jay nods, "Of course. She's safe with me."

Your dad replies with good and you hurry and drag Jay out. With your hands twined and bodies pressed against each other's you make your way out of firehouse 51 and towards Jay's car.

"That wasn't so bad," You lean against your boyfriend's car. Jay sighs in response and puts his head on your shoulder. You giggle and wrap your arms around his body. You two stay like that for a few minutes and once the cold Chicago weather starts making its way under your jacket, the two of you pull away.

Jay kisses your forehead and leads you to the passenger seat, hands on your hips. You buckle yourself and lean against the leather seat of his car. He jumps in the car not too long after you settle in and turns it on immediately. He starts driving without any indication to where he's driving to.

Once he stops because of a red light he turns on the heat and smiles to himself. "Where are we going Jay?"

"I'm going to teach you how to ice skate," Jay says proudly. With one hand on the steering wheel and the other twined with yours he safely drives the two of you to an indoors skating center.

You spent a good portion of your life in the sunny city of Los Angeles with your mom. Ice skating definitely wasn't something you had in mind back there. Now that you were back in Chicago to pursue further in education this activity seemed reasonable. But you only mentioned that you wanted to do this once to Jay.

"You remembered."

"Of course I did. I remember everything you've ever told me. C'mon let's go inside." You follow him out of the car and together, hand in hand, the two of you make your way inside.

"Don't you dare let me go." You stand still on the slippery ice, not daring to move or let go of Jay's hands. You look at your two feet, the last time you went forward you landed on your butt. Even kids laughed at your failed attempt to ice skate. Now because of that you're glued to your boyfriend.

"I need you to trust me babe." Jay said, keeping his cool. He looked as comfortable as he would on solid concrete in his sneakers. Then he started sliding backwards, pulling you after him.

You shriek quietly but don't move a muscle.

"Baby please. You won't fall I got you," He reassured you and pulled you closer.

"You promise?" You finally meet his blue eyes. His blue eyes are shining with love and you know you can trust him. And so you slowly move your feet towards him like a child taking its first steps.

The more you move forward the more he moves backwards and you can't help but think of him as some kind of a prize for all your effort in ice skating.

With each step you slowly start gliding accros the ice just like Jay and everyone else who knows how to skate does. With a bright smile you look at Jay. "You're a natural Y/N."

"Oh shush," You say. You know you aren't a natural but you appreciate his compliments.

He quickens the pace unexpectedly and you mess up your footing. You brace yourself for the impact of the cold hard ice but it never comes. "Did I die?"

Of course you didn't. You felt the warmth of Jay's strong arms around your body. The position you two were in is most probably the same as the ones you see in Christmas movies. You open your eyes slowly and almost faint. You always try to keep your cool when your faces are this close.

Blood rushes to your cheeks in the speed of lightning. His head was angled slightly to the side as his lips came closer and closer to yours. You was surprised to find your own lips parted. Your breaths mingled. Your heart fluttered inside your chest. At first, it was a delicate butterfly of a kiss. Then his arms encircled you even more. He took your breath away. Your ability to think.

The moment was delicate. It was just you two and now the ice seemed to be the steadiest place to stand on.

Both of you pull away. Jay pulls you to your unsteady feet and you stand there looking at each other. With his hands on your waist he leans in and presses a soft kiss to your forehead.

"I told you I got you."
