Warning! This chapter has a bit of blood and you are squeamish about that I will warn you before it starts and you can skip that part.

As she went down to consult the maps Yan noticed something on the wall. It was a portrait of three year old her hugging baby Lykos. She remembered this day it was the day she met Lykos. Her father had found him while out searching for wood for the ship. He had heard the little pup crying and following the noise, Lykos was hiding under a bush and when her dad found him he picked her up to be a friend to his child Yan.

Yan stayed looking at that picture for a long time, it hurt to see her father's face. The pain was a hot needle and the gref smothered her like a blanket. But it was bearable since she knew she was doing something about it. She continued to the caben. When she came back up the sun was setting and as Yan put down the anchor for the night she told Lykos what she had found. Apparently there was a place in the fabled port (famous for its exotic market) called "the Lodge" where her father had bought his goods.

Finally the light disappeared over the horizon she watched with fascination as Lykos changed from Akita dog to wolf. It started by the gray of his nose starting to spread covering his body as his muscles grew stronger until in thirty seconds he was know longer a golden dog with a gray nose, but a gray wolf with a golden nose. Lykos was a day night shiftier. Though Yan had seen him do it many times it still fascinated her.

As he padded up to Yan with silent paws she looked into his eyes and told him to not let anybody on this ship. Then she went down to the cabin, where she had a small dinner of dried fish and cold rice. Then she got into bed knowing that she was safe with night Lykos on guard duty.Lykos on the other hand wasn't so sure.

Two hours after Yan had gone to sleep Lykos heard noises. There was another ship, Lykos didn't know who they were but they weren't getting on this ship. He waited seeing what they would do. Lykos didn't know it but they were pirates and they recognized a trading ship. Hidden in the shadows he watched as a small party, about three guys came about the Kaze Tsuyoi to loot and then burn the ship. This group did not expect people, and if there were any they figured they could take them out. But it was easier to let them sleep and die with the ship, So the pirates weren't worried as they headed towards the hold. They expected to get the goods and return to the ship easily. They did not expect the wolf.

Blood ahead!

Lykos leaped at the invaders, knocking one to the ground before the others had time to draw their swords, he slashed the fallen one's throat and moved on. He leaped at another and caught him in his teeth before throwing him overboard. There was only one man left, he threw his hands up in surrender but Lykos was a feral creature there was no mercy in the wild so Lykos ponced at the last man, with a snap the back bone broke and with a yell of agony he died with the rest. Careful not to show himself to the ship, Lykos moved back to the shadows.

Fight over

On the ship the other pirates didn't see the fight but heard it and guessed there was another group of pirates already taking over the Kaze Tsuyoi. Not wanting to compete they turned and fled running from an imaginary enemy. The noise of the battle had woken Yan and she stumbled to the deck clutching the sword she found in a corner of the cabin. When she got up she saw Lykos standing over two pirates' dead body's and guessed what happened. She embraced Lykos and (figuring she couldn't go back to sleep) raised the anchor and continued along the coast to the Lodge.
