Caught in a Storm

Yan was caught in the storm. There were waves as big as mountains towering over the Kaze Tsuyoi. Yan suddenly felt a connection to ants and said sorry to all the ones she had killed over the years. The sea was dark and treacherous swelling under the hull. They tilted precariously and Yan ushered Lykos inside before slamming the door. They were caught at the top of a giant wave and Yan saw the sky was just a treacherous as the sea. The winds blew rampant in all different directions, and occasionally a light ripped through the darkness. A harsh light ready to kill what it touched.

Then the wave fell and left Yan's stomach at the top. Lightning flashed illuminating the debris swirling around in the water, pieces of land ripped from an island. The little boat rose and fell making it nearly impossible to work. She managed to take the sail down so it wouldn't get ripped and was making her way to the rudder when a wave crashed over the Kaze Tsuyoi. The boat wasn't hurt but Yan was thrown overboard.

She lunged for a hold but found nothing; the ship was perfectly sanded to help with speed but right then Yan did not appreciate it. The water was cold in a way that froze you right down to the bone. Yan shiverd, it was the type of cold that told you you were going to die here. Yan felt like giving up and sinking to a watery grave. She shook herself. It is the cold. It is affecting my brain, She told herself.

But it wasn't the cold, it was the hopelessness she had felt since she left but it was worse so close to death. She thought about her father, she had to keep going, she needed to prove she was worthy of this boat. She had to make him proud.

Yan swam for the boat with frozen fingers she climbed onto the Kaze Tsuyoi, and collapsed onto the deck soaking wet and afraid. The storm didn't give her a chance to recover.

As soon as she was on the boat, the biggest wave she had ever seen crashed over her. The boat nearly capsized, and Yan blacked out. Meanwhile back at the ranch, that is to say the cabin. Lykos was getting impatient, he knew Yan was in trouble the way a dog knows to fetch a ball, small thing moving= chase it. It's instinct. And Lykos was closer to his wild instinct then most. And if this was a story with a happy ending Lykos would rush out there and save Yan, but this is a story about hardship and learning so he couldn't open the door, and Yan was left to face the elements on her own. Finally Lykos settled down to sleep, accepting that he could not help Yan right now. It was a fretful sleep, full of bad dreams and waking ups. He wimped in his sleep.

Now you probably want to know what was happening to the Kaze Tsuyoi while Yan and Lykos slept. The storm had dissapered as fast as it had come and the clouds were drifting apart, revealing perfect blue sky. It looked like the clouds were drifting apart to reveal heaven. A very blue heaven. The winds were gentle and moving the battered Kaze Tsuyoi towards the unknown. And taking the sleeping passengers with it.

That was exiting. I will try to update soon.
