Loki POV
It was when Y/n started to distance herself from me that everyone really noticed the change in her behavior. She even started to break the little rules Tony had set, leaving the tower on her own.
"Ok what the fuck is going on with Y/n! When did she start being so...cold? " Tony blurts after we knew for sure she had left the tower again.
" I have no idea." Steve has his face in his hands.
"I do," Everyone looks up at me, "I know when it started. At Least I think..."
"Well when?" Nat urges me to come forward.
"It was the blackout, when JARVIS was taken out and no one could see, after the lights turned on she sounded...different?" I try to explain but even I didn't understand how I knew she wasn't herself. "Not her usual tone of voice."
"How are we supposed to figure out what happened?" Bruce pipes in "JARVIS was down and I'm pretty sure she isn't just going to just come out and tell us."
"Maybe if we could get her weak enough I could go through her memories," I say
"But she said nothing happened to her that night. Wouldn't you be able to tell if she were lying" Tony asks
"Ya, so she must have somehow gotten brainwashed." Clint pipes in. My eyes get a little wider and both my eyebrows raise in realization.
"Or compelled," I state "When was the last time Y/n was nervous about Klaus? What if he compelled her to make us hate her."
"What if he compelled her to flip her humanity switch she told us about?" Nat continues. "Remember that story about Klaus's sister, Stephen, and that Elena girl? Stephen loved her so much when he was compelled to kill her he fought back, it was only when he was compelled to turn off his switch that he stopped fighting."
Everyone's eyes went wide. How had I not realized it before, she's not just acting differently she's acting like she doesn't care. Like we never mattered. There's only one way to test that theory though. I teleport me and Clint to Y/n's room. She wasn't home just yet but she will be soon.
"Hey! What was that for?" He looks a little uneasy. "What are you doing?"
"Testing the assassins theory," I responded. He eyes me with an eyebrow raised. Sighing I explain, "I'm going to put Y/n's closest teammate in a deadly situation and if she doesn't react then she is correct." I summon a pair of daggers as well as rope and a chair.
"Smart, but no." Clint eyes me with distrust.
"I won't hurt you." I roll my eyes
"Why can't you use an illusion?" I roll my eyes again
"She is smarter than that, you know this." He finally agrees and tells JARVIS to notify the other so they don't get worried.
A few hours pass and just as I make the book in my hand disappear the door opens. Y/n walks through with a completely confused face. "What the fuck are you guys doing in my room?"
"I'm going to kill your friend." I get straight to the point holding my dagger to Clint's throat. He's a good actor, he looks scared. Hopefully, she will believe it.
"Make sure to clean up after you're done." She responded in a monotone voice.
"As I thought," I make the daggers and ropes disappear. She looks at me kinda confused, "Let's go mortal."
"You were just gonna let me die?" Clint sounds sad. She just ends up dragging us out herself slamming and locking the door. "She was going to let me die." I nod and walk off, he closely follows, still rambling off.
