I got on the backseat of our Renault Kwid. While my father took the wheel and my mother sat on the seat beside him. We slowly picked up until we reached the highway. The airport was 15 kms away. The air was cool and fresh. The sun was still not completely risen. The serenity of the road was staggering. We saw only one or two cars throughout our whole journey. We reached the airport sooner than expected. It wasn't much busy. The entry had a huge board that read in bold letters "JAIPUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT".
I looked at my watch it was 6 O'clock. There was some crying from my mother. My father, even though on the verge, didn't cry. I was sobbing too. They petted me on the head, kissed me and hugged me. There was that repeated warning to,be safe, eat food, and other similar precautions. The people around us watched in silence. I felt embarrassed but I didn't want to stop them because that would hurt them.
After our little crying session, my father reminded me that I was already late. I quickly kissed them goodbye and hurried inside. There was the regular bag check and other necessities. I sat on a seat in the corner on the first floor by the window. There was a clear view of the runway. I saw one plane taking its flight after speeding up in the runway.
This was my first international flight. Before that, I took a domestic flight to Pune with my family for my cousin's Wedding. There was not very people around me. There was the shush of parents trying to quiet their children. A baby was squalling on the far end of the ground floor. A group of teenagers were talking and hollering. It was probably their first trip alone too. Still the silence was deafening. I took out my earphones and played my playlist.

"Excuse me ma'am..." A soft voice woke me up from my slumber. I took a deep breath and looked around. I was at the airport but it looked different. The sun was now shining brightly. I looked at the origin of the voice. It was a beautiful girl probably my age and she was wearing a red skirt with a red blazer. Collor of a white shirt peeked from its ends. She had a red and white scarf around her neck. A name tag spelling 'Alisha' was pinned on her chest."Are you Ishita reddy?" She muttered.
"Yeah, who's asking?" I replied still struggling to fully open my eyes.
"Your flight is waiting for you to board." She said.A sudden panic rushed through me. Then there was an announcement, "This is the final boarding announcement for passenger Ishita Reddy booked on flight 383B to New York city. Please proceed to gate 3 immediately. The final checks are being completed and the captain will order for the doors of the aircraft to close in approximately five minutes time. I repeat. This is the final boarding announcement for passenger Ishita Reddy. Thank you."
I ran towards gate no. 3. I didn't care that hundreds of people were looking at me or that children were making fun of me. I reached the aformentioned gate and the officers on duty looked at me with pure disdain. I kept my head low and I was boarded hurriedly to the plane and ALL the passengers were looking at me with rage filled eyes. I wanted to die at the moment. I wanted the earth to open up and swallow me whole. The flight attendant directed me to my seat which was fortunately an A /F.
But it was on the far end of the plane. I felt the eyes on me as I made my way to my seat. I sat quietly on my seat looking outside too Scared to look inside. The flight took off after a few minutes. It was gonna be a long flight. I plugged my earphones back in and resumed the song that was playing. Ironically, it was "Have a great flight" by Yelawolf. I tried to go back to Sleep but the feeling of all the eyes on me was too overwhelming. So I just kept my eyes out the window.
