Duck's POV:
Yet another day of fighting and running, I thought while sitting behind a dark red, on fire, tree. That wasn't that weird here in hell though, all the trees were like that.
I got kicked out of my home a few hours earlier, well I don't even know if I could call it a 'home'. Since it was just a stable tree branch I slept on for 2 days before another stupid demon came and took over.
With my shitty ability of only being able to make my hands a bit sharper I won't survive for long. The fact that I've been doing it for over a year now doesn't change anything, most demons don't kill really young ones because they think they won't even survive by their own. Sadly, I am now at the age where they do start killing, and I don't know how long I'll last. All I know is that I'm gonna die.
I started checking my wounds, seeing if any were severe. There was a wound on my forehead, since there was blood streaming down my face and when I put my finger on where it came from my forehead hurt. Next to that I probably strained my ankle while trying to escape from the demon that attacked me. So not that bad.
As I tried standing up I felt a lot of pain in my right ankle, leading me to believe I was right. I couldn't do anything about it, so I just continued walking, or rather stumbling.
About an hour passed by and I had found another stable tree, it was a lucky day. I sat down behind it and started examining my ankle. I would've bandaged it up but I was getting low on recourses, so I didn't because it wasn't a cut or something.
I flinched when I heard a tree branch crack in the not so far distance. I quickly tried standing up, but the stinging pain I got through my body from when I stood on my strained ankle surprised me and I fell over again.
I looked at the direction of where the sound came from and thankfully didn't see anything yet, but I did feel a presence. I sharpened my fingers and dug them into the tree, so I could climb up it and hide there. My plan didn't work out.
I felt something grab my tail and I was thrown to the ground almost immediately. When I hit the ground I felt the immense pain in my back and the air in my lungs leaving my body.
I didn't process what was happening for a good second but when I did I started to crawl away in an attempt of fleeing. I couldn't fight the adult demon that was attacking me, I had to run, but how? Part of me knew I was going to die here, but I didn't want to, I wasn't ready to die yet, I still wanted to explore. But then again, I'd finally be free, I wouldn't have to run and hide everyday anymore.
The demon ripped me out of my thoughts by grabbing my throat and slamming me against the tree. His grip only got stronger and I felt my conscious starting to slowly slip away.
That's when I saw a girl tapping the demons head.
Instead of tightening the grip around my throat even more, the demon hit the girl away with his arm. She landed on the ground about 2 meters further and the demon started walking to her. "You fucking annoying children, I might've spared him but now I'm pissed off." I heard the demon mumble.
I tried standing up again but instantly failed, I was too exhausted and my body felt like it was about to collapse. I could only watch how the demon would slaughter the poor girl that tried to save me, and wait for my turn to die.
I felt tears coming up but I didn't care, the tears would maybe hurt on my skin but I was gonna die anyway.
But before a tear could come, I saw the demon flee in fear. I looked around in confusion on why he did, but I didn't see anything.
"Get up idiot." I heard a voice say. It was the girl.
I ignored her comment and attempted standing up. I was struggling but eventually I got up and used the tree to maintain balance. This time I did think about my strained ankle.
"What did you do to that guy?" I asked.
"You'll find out one day. Let's get you out of here first." The girl replied, instead of giving an actual answer to my question.
She gave me a piggyback ride away from the the place we had just fought a minute ago, the place where I would've died if this random person wouldn't have saved me. I mean, I didn't even get why she did. I thought there weren't any nice demons in hell, I guess I was wrong.
The rest of the way I just tried to stay conscious, although it was hard because I was still really tired.
I guessed about 45 minutes later, she put me down on the ground. I had one eye closed because of the blood, but it thankfully wasn't that bad anymore.
"Let's patch that wound on your forehead up first." The girl said and started searching through my bag. When she found the bandages she started wrapping them around my forehead.
"Are you gonna tell me why you saved me now? And how?"
"It's never bad to get an ally. Try standing up."
I did what she said and tried standing up. I succeeded but it still hurt when I would stand on my foot with the strained ankle.
"I guess that's understandable." I mumbled. "What about how?"
"That was my ability." The girl said with a smirk, knowing that I already assumed that from since when it happened.
I sighed. "Are you gonna tell me what that ability is?"
"Nope!" She put my arm around her neck and her arm around my waist. "Just shut up and continue walking for now."
I wiped the blood off my eye with my hand and walked with her, annoyed, but I also knew that she could easily beat me up right now, so I just did what she said.
