Kate

Kai and I walked back to the cabin after it was starting to get light outside. When we arrived, since we both hadn't gotten any sleep yet, we decided to sleep in the empty room together. I found it a bit uncomfortable that we were lying in the bed that Kai fucked my sister in, but I knew everything was clean, I was just happy to be lying in her arms. We were spooning, but I flipped around so I could look at her face. She was quickly asleep, with a slight flush to her cheeks from the sunburn she got from napping in front of the sun. She was pretty tan, so I knew it would go away quickly and be replaced with a darker shade of her skin tone. I was very envious of how gorgeous her skin was, along with Ace's. They had very great genes.

Her reddish lips were parted as she let out soft breaths, her left hand was laid on the pillow, while her palm rested on her cheek, and her right hand was on my waist. I brought my hand to her warm cheek and watched her. Feeling tired, I laid my head against her chest, and shut my eyes, listening to her calm heartbeat.

I woke up to Kai with her back against the bed frame and a book in her hand, sitting with her legs crossed. I was expecting her to be gone, since she usually wakes up early and leaves the cabin on her own, but she wasn't, she was here, with me. She was too into her book to notice that I woke up, while she was reading, she was tickling my left arm that was resting on her thighs. Soon, she turns her head and her face softens when she sees that I'm awake. She doesn't say anything, she just straightens her legs and sets my head on her thighs. I felt goosebumps on my skin when her soft hands started to play with my hair. "Emer-" Ace walks in, but cuts himself off. He clears his throat. "Kai," I need to talk to you.

Ace

"Why were you about to call me Emerson?" My sister asks with a glare. Our mother used to call Kai, Emerson, it's our moms middle name, and she wanted Kai to be named it, but our dad won the fight of choosing her name. Since Kai hates our mom, she hates that name. "I'm just used to it, whatever, that's not important right now. We're falling behind with training, we need to start showing them how to use actual weapons, and not just their fists. I thought we would get to it faster than we did, but I guess not. Tomorrow we will start," I ordered her, she nodded but it didn't look like she was focusing. "Kai," I say loudly, and her eyes finally meet mine. "Did you hear a word I just said?" I ask, she leans back in her seat and looks at the Gilbert kids sitting together at a wooden table behind us. "I did," she says calmly and looks back at me. "Okay, what's up with you? You're being weird," I ask, I haven't seen her for two years, I don't think I have the right, or knowledge, to call her behavior weird.

"I'm worried about them getting hurt," She admits, kicking the dirt with her bare feet. I knew that Arden was important to her, but I never knew how close she was with the twins. "I'm worried about you getting hurt," I mumble, she looks up at me and glares. "Then why did you call me?" She asks, it hurts to hear, but she's right. I shouldn't have called her, I shouldn't have even thought about it. I was fine on my own.. I think I was fine on my own. "Just- please do as I say," I change the topic and Kai nods before getting out of her chair and walking off onto the main road. I smile as how odd my sister has become. She leaves the cabin at the strangest times, god knows where she goes.

Kai

The day passed by quickly, I spent it walking through the path that my father and I had always walked together, now it was around 3:30AM, I was lying on the couch as usual, unable to sleep. Kaia was lightly purring on my chest as I pet her soft head. I close my eyes, letting myself get absorbed in my thoughts.

Big hands tear my book out of my hands. "You've already read two whole books today, you need to take a break," I turn to see Arden sitting in the driver seat with my book. "No, I need to finish this one too," I try to take it back, but he hands it to his younger sister in the backseat. I let out a sigh and folded my arms over my chest. "Can I just finish this one? I won't read anymore for a day or two," I ask, flopping back in my seat. "No, you need to take in all the information you got from the other books before reading again," he says looking back at the road. "Stop!" I yell, smacking my hand on the armrest. He pushes hard on the breaks and looks at me with furrowed eyebrows. I get out of the car and pick up the cat in the middle of the road, quickly returning to the front passenger seat. "Jesus," Arden whispers to himself. "I thought I hit someone," Arden says, glaring at me. "I wouldn't freak out so much if it was a person, it's a fucking cat," I say, looking down at the tiny creature in my arms. It looked like it was born yesterday. "What should I name it?" I ask with a smile on my face. Arden shrugs. I turned to Kate, who was looking at the cat with fond eyes.
