Chapter 7: Changed

Jacob's POV.

The week had passed, I was about to go to my first day of work, AKA save Emma day. I still didn't want to believe what Julia had told me, how could Emma turn out to be such a monster? She was one of the sweetest people I knew, there was no way she could actually be acting like that with free will, could she? Nothing had made sense at all for the past couple of weeks.

To think this world didn't exist to me less than a month ago was crazy. It started out going to this run-down creepy island after my grandpa died, next you know, I'm meeting my grandpa's friends in the forties, and battling savage beasts. When I come home, my grandfather is alive, and I'm going through all these different loops, to find now my friends in the past. Soon after, I got a girl pregnant.

I was headed to the place, I wonder what I will find, clearly nothing good. I walk through the doors, this place is eerie and disturbing. Nothing short of the pictures. There are big labeled metal doors, some of them aren't labeled. I get to the head office, there he is, that must be Emma's dad.

"Hello, my name is Jacob Portman. I applied to be a guard last week."

"Come closer, sit." I go down to sit, secretly examining for booby traps.

"I saw your application, it was remarkable. Nice to see young boys interested in this service." Why? So you can teach them that other people's lives don't matter?

"I agree."

"Dad, C9 is all worked up, again" It sounds like Emma, but it can't, can it? I turn my head, it is her. Her wavy blonde hair cut short above her shoulder, with some black highlights at the bottom. She's dressed like a teenage girl from my time, but how's that possible? Her lead shoes are still on, that's a good sign.

"Jacob, this is my daughter Emma." He says. I just stare at her, I think she's noticing. She comes over to me.

"Emma, but you already knew that. You're cute, we should hang out sometime." She smiles at me, I smile back. What the heck was going on? I'm pretty sure people didn't talk like that back now. She didn't talk like that before. The way she was talking, also reminds me of the girls in my grade.

"I don't think that would be right, you are the boss's daughter." I only said that to make it look like she wasn't the only reason I was here. She didn't seem that bad, it could all just be an act. After I said that, she left.

"You are a good man, any person would've taken that offer, but you didn't. If you want, you have my permission to see her if you want." Gee, thanks, like I value your permission to see my girlfriend, just like I would value your blessing with our baby.

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind."

"Your first job is to check up on C9, she's been acting up."

"Yes sir." I don't know where the heck that is. I'm walking down the hallways trying to figure out where I'm going, when I literally bump into Emma, in truth I wasn't looking where I was going.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!" Then she shoved me back. This was going to be a long day.

"It's you," It sounded like she was complaining about my presence. Then the hurricane came in. "Where you trying to go, because I'm pretty sure my side isn't a destination, well if you want to live anyway." Keep it together, keep it together. This could still be an act, I hope.

"C9." An evil-like grin appeared on her face, this can't be good.

"I know where that is." Oh great, if I die, please make sure I'm scattered along the beach.
