Your glasses filled with steam, causing the moon that hung low in the sky to blur until it looked nonexistent.
You pressed the rim of the coffee cup to your lips, letting the liquid burn your throat. Staring at the window your mind danced with the thought of your future. Trying to push away the nerves that were storming your body, the only comfort you had was in your hands. The warmth of the hot chocolate seeping through the cup warming your hands, the smell of chocolate evading your senses.
Endless possibilities and outcomes suffocating you as looked into the unknown. The future you had longed for as a child seemed so close yet so far. Even if you decided to take your dreams by the horn and pursue everything you ever wanted were you ready for that step?
Were you willing to put in all those hours to study for the LSAT, as well as go back into college to finish the credits needed to be eligible for law school? Would you be able to manage college and working for the bau?
After staring into nothing getting lost in your own world, you were snapped out by the warmth of the cup disappearing. The sun rising letting its presence being known with the baby blue that layered the sky.
A sigh of defeat slipping through your teeth realizing you had to start the unwanted day. Dumping your cup in the sink you made your way to your room to get ready for the day ahead. Doing your usual routine you were done in 40 minutes.
Glancing at yourself for the last time a smile of satisfaction filled your face. You were proud of the outfit you pulled together. Dark washed skinny jeans, and a tight fitted turtle neck pulled together with heeled ankle boots and your usual jewelry. You knew it was stupid to be happy over something so small but like your dad always quoted. "Enjoy the little thing."
Unplugging your phone from the nightstand, you grabbed your coat and keys walking out the door. A chill ran down your spine as the wind hit your skin, the smell of fall coating the air.
Immediately walking to your car you locked the door. Putting the keys in the ignition you set the heater to the warmest tempter possible. In the hope to calm the chill that lingered in your bones. Placing everything on the passenger side you set out for the bau.
Minutes later you sat in the parking lot staring into the building where people walked in and out. The heat made you feel drowsy and the motivation to do anything leaving your body. Your eyes shifted to your phone that laid in the middle consult. Your mind retracting to Hotch's message you had only read it about 50 times this morning, but the urge to read it again caused you to open your phone.
Your eyes scanned over the screen reading it out loud. At this point, you had read it so many times you could recite it from memory. You had always been that way, always having to reread and ask multiple times for the answer to know you weren't making everything up.
Shutting your phone off you grabbed everything needed for the long workday ahead. Walking inside you entered the elevator watching all the different people who were in different departments scurried off to start their busy day. Alone in the elevator, you watched as you passed each floor, a ding echoing through the small four walls as the doors slowly slid open.
You were meet with Spencer who had an empty coffee cup in his hand. "Hey, Reid." You gave him a soft smile following him so you could put your lunch in the refrigerator.
"Hi." He crocked returning the smile. Grabbing the coffee pot he poured his cup halfway with the brown liquid, and the rest he poured sugar drowning out any hint of coffee that remained.
You watched as he stirred his drink the once deep brown liquid turning a caramel-like color. Scrunching your face you wondered how he was so skinny and not diabetic with how much sugar he intakes daily. Turning your attention back to the fridge you opened it, setting your leftover chicken in.
