No POV:
A cold day, rainy and foggy, in a small house on the outskirts of town.Dreary and sad, like most days in the Anderson household.
A girl and her brother holding hands in their shared bedroom at the back of the broken home.
Yelling, yelling that they were used to.
An eerie silence breaks the loud atmosphere.
Breathe.
Open the door, look, breathe.
Creaking of the wood floor when she emerges from the bedroom.
"What do you want." The lady says, they were always mad at her.
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay." She replies, nervous of the fact he could come back into the room.
He was always mean to her.
"Leave Eden. Your dad and I don't want to see you right now." Her mother says, like a punch to the gut she releases all her air she had trapped in.
She was terrified of the fact that he could come back at any moment, he always hurt her and would always make her pay for his pain.
"Eden, now. Your dad will be back any moment." Her mother says again, looking at her almost sincerely.
"I'm sorry, I'll go." She says, taking a step back into the large figure behind her.
"Eden." His voice booms from behind her, sending shooting pain down her back.
"I'm sorry dad, I'm leaving." She whispers, turning to face his angered face.
"The hell you are. Come on." He says, taking a hold on her arm as she did something she had never done.
"No." She says, making his grip fall loose as he spins to look at her.
"What did you just say?" He says, looking down at her.
She begins, "I am 18 years old, I'm not a minor. I can file a lawsuit against you for abuse of a minor against Greyson."
The room falls silent as he yells for his son, watching him cower into the room behind his older sister.
"I never thought my children would be so blatantly idiotic and disrespectful. Trust me, if I had a choice you both wouldn't have even been born." He snarled, walking towards them.
"Todd, stop." Their mother says, making them all turn their heads.
"What the hell did you just say to me Delaney?" He spits, bolting over to his frail wife.
"I said, stop." She whispers, tears forming in her eyes.
Both children stand speechless in the kitchen, staring at their mother.
"Leave them alone Todd. They have never done wrong." She says, looking at the two children in the middle of the room.
As he begins to yell, she lifts her hands to her younger brother's ears, shielding him from the slapping and screaming of their helpless mother.
"Todd, listen." Her mother screams through the anger of her husband.
"Better be a good fucking interruption you idiotic bitch." He yells, letting go of her now bruised wrists.
"Lets leave." She says, the room falling silent.
"Mommy-" Her brother says, looking at his mother with tears in his eyes.
"No Greyson, you stay there. You know the rules about hugging mommy and daddy." She says, sounding almost motherly.
"What do you mean leave Delaney." Their father says, drawing the young girls attention from her brother's tear stained cheeks.
"Eden is old enough to keep Greyson as a legal guardian. We can leave them." She says, glancing over at her daughter.
The girl lets go of her brother, rage building in her head as she listens to her father laugh.
She stands up, bounding towards her father as she lets weak punches into his chest, her mother pulling her away by her hips as her father continues to laugh.
"Eden baby, please." She says, shaking through her tears as her daughter struggles in her grip.
"Let me go, you don't love us, you never have." The girl repeats, not thrashing in her mothers arms anymore.
"I have tried to love many people, though I have failed you both I know you Eden, you will do things for Greyson I could've never done. I love you both in ways you wont understand." She whispers, holding her now half asleep son and daughter in her arms, tears running down her pale face.
"I promise, I love you. I'm so sorry." She whispers, moving the two kids off her lap and walking to the kitchen entrance, turning around to see her two children cuddled together on the floor.
"Were ready to go." The man speaks, walking up behind her and looking at the children.
"I'll be in the car, don't take too long, they will wake up." He whispers, closing the screen door behind him as he leaves the family home.
"Vos câlins sont à jamais absents, ne pensez pas à nous, nous ne méritons pas une fraction de vos bonnes âmes, je vous aime plus que je n'aurais jamais pu vous dire. Maman." She writes, placing the letter on her daughters hand.
"Goodbye my loves, forever grateful." She says, closing the front door, leaving her two children, exhausted and hopeful their parents would be there when they wake.
