Nagising ako sa ingay na narinig ko. Unti-unti kong minulat ang mga mata ko at sapilitang kinuha ang cellphone. I pressed the green button.

"Amara.."

I groaned. At muling ipinikit ang mga mata ko. Its mom. And I don't want to talk to her kasi inaantok pa ako. Daig ko pa ang may ka late-night talk kagabi. I just really want to lie down the whole day. Ito yata ang resulta ng lahat nang nangyari kahapon. It finally sinks in today.

"Amara! Are you still in your bed?!"

Nailayo ko ang cellphone sa tainga ko dahil sa sigaw ni  Mom na abot hanggang Batanes. Darn. Ang aga pa, pero mag-aalmusal yata ako ng sermon.

"Yeah, mom. Bakit ba? It's too early." I said as I rolled to the other side of the bed. Inabot ko ang isang unan saka niyakap 'yon.

"What?! It's already 9!" pinaghalong amusement at iritasyon ang naririnig ko sa kabilang linya.

 

Pinilit kong buksan ang mga mata ko and looked at my wall clock and tama naman siya, it's already 9. But it's still early to move and start my day.

"Mom, 9 is like 6 AM for me. I'll just call you later. Okay? " I was about to end the call when she shouted again.

"Dont you dare go back to sleep again! Good Heavens! Wake up and make Maxon a good breakfast."

I kicked my sheets off my feet saka napabalikwas ng bangon. What nonsense did I just hear?

"You must cook for him."  ulit niya pa. 

Oh darn. I heard it right, and it's a complete nonsense. Iritasyon ang bumalot sa akin dahil sa narinig ko. Ginising niya ako for this?! Really?

"What?! No way! Why would I do it?!" singhal ko habang napahilamos nalang ako sa mukha ko. Huminga ako ng malalim to lessen my irritation. " I won't do it, mom." pag-uulit ko.

"Oh yes way honey you will. You're  going to be his wife. You need to at least make him a decent meal."

And with that said agad na napakunot ang noo ko.

"Mom, I didn't work hard to get my degree just to cook for my soon to be husband. Let alone I don't know how to cook!"
