Chapter 1: I Found You

“Ally, of all the days that you would picked a fight with Todd, you just have to choose tonight… Arg… you know that he is supposed to be our ride home right?”

“Hey, relax babe, I know the way home, don't get your panties in a knot”

“Ugh, sometimes you are just so infuriating!” Where the heck are we anyways? As we continue to walk, I felt the shiver run through my skin at the contact of the cold of the wind, we may have been walking for maybe an hour or so since the good for nothing “boyfriend of the week” of Ally dropped us off at the side of the road, with nothing but miles of dirt and sand, with no house or any establishment whatsoever in sight.

“Sometimes, I don’t even know what you see with guys like Todd”

“Well, maybe you need to clean your glasses babe, he is Hot, and a good F*ck”

I just rolled my eyes with her comment. Truth be told, I don’t know what she sees in me, I am not pretty, no fashion sense whatsoever, compared to her I look like a nobody. But she chose to be my friend, my only friend (yeah I know, I am loner…Who would even befriend someone like me).

I kept cursing Todd in my head (good for nothing jerk, leaving us in the middle of nowhere, he didn’t even take into account that we are girls!)

Looking at the corner of my eye, I see how drunk Ally is; she leaned against me as we waited for any sign of any car.  I checked my watch “crap it’s already 2AM, I still have to go to work"

"Hey Cass, I know a shortcut, I have been here before”, as she pointed to a dark alley jumping like a kid on a Christmas day.

"I don't know Ally, I think we just need to stay put"

She quirked her eyebrow, and folded her arms,

“Cass, both of our cells are not working; maybe we would get a signal over there, don’t you think so? Stop worrying, live a little. I've been here, trust me, I know this place like the back of my hand; we will get a better signal, and even a cab. Trust me”, she ended with a sly smile.

That reassuring smile always gets to me… I can never say no to her, so with a nod, we walked towards the dark pathway.

I noticed every step that we took it became colder; I had this uneasy feeling, my gut telling me that something bad will happen, but I just brushed it off, thinking I’m being paranoid. We just need to have a good signal, to get home, yeah that is it, I convinced myself.

I pulled out my phone constantly checking for any signal as we continued walking…

Suddenly, I felt like someone is following me, Intuition. You know like when Spiderman senses danger, well I felt that, my “spider sense sort of” telling me we are definitely being followed.  I quickly turned around, but caught no one in sight. (Ok; so maybe my “spider sense” is not that polished)

We continue walking, halfway out of the dark alley, I heard footsteps, Lots of them…

My heart started thudding fast.
