It has been years since Y/N's passing yet elijah was still not over her, he missed the way she was sarcastic but was still loving and how she was full of life.
It was if there was a burning hole in his chest that would never heal and no matter how many of his brother's problems he was involved in his mind was never torn from the image of her face.

It was the anniversary of her death and yet again Elijah would spend the day trying to distract himself from the pain of your last breath but as he listened to his brother talk he caught sight of something in the corner of his eye, he turned his head to see a girl sat on a bench; her long, dark hair played in the wind as she wore a cream coloured ball gown that had small flowers trailing down the the hem, it was what Y/N wore on the first night they ever danced together, he felt a pang in his chest watching the girl, she slowly stood up and turned to look at him through the window and that is when he froze. She was there, the girl he loved so dearly and tried so hard to protect; she was standing outside of his house smiling "Y/N...." He watched as she placed a delicate hand on the window, his heart started to beat faster "brother?" Klaus watched as his brother gazed outside the window "Elijah." He said louder causing Elijah to look at his with a confused look on his face, he looked back at the window to see she was gone and yet again he felt emptiness.
All throughout the day he saw his lost lover appear and disappear, each time filling him with hope only to crumble apart once more until he finally broke down "what's wrong elijah?" Hayley stood in front of him watching as he sank to his knees sobbing, she crouched down in front of him and put a hand on his shoulder trying to calm him down but nothing worked, he was broken. Memories flashed in his mind of watching as Y/N took her last breath and he couldn't do anything to help her, he screamed out as he went through the pain of her death again but his head shot up when he heard a faint voice "elijah?" He looked at where it was coming from and saw her once more "Y/N." He stayed on his knees not knowing if it was fake or not "oh my god y/n!" Hayley stood up and ran over to her, she collided with her and held her in a tight embrace "you're real..." Elijah watched in shock as the girl he loved so dearly started to walk closer to him "i'm real." She smiled causing him to immediately stand up and wrap his arms around her waist "i'm so sorry." He repeated, his lips right next to her ear as he breathed in her familiar scent that he missed so much "it's ok-" before she could finish her sentence his lips came crashing into hers, a feeling he had craved since losing her; the world stopped and Y/N felt the euphoric feeling she hadn't felt since she was alive, they finally parted for air and elijah rested his forehead on hers "i love you so much." He breathed out
"i love you even more."
