(fluff i suppose)
~

This Saturday, I woke up to the sun's rays shining through my bedroom window. Sitting up and rubbing some of the sleep out my eyes, I looked out the window. It was a beautiful day, the sun shined bright and a cool breeze blew. Though the sun was out, it didn't seem too hot. It was a perfect summer day-- and the one of the only good days we'll probably get this whole summer. Suddenly, a brilliant plan came to mind.

This is the perfect day to go on a date with my boyfriend, Ethan. We've been dating for a couple months, but we've never really went on dates after school or on the weekends. Ethan's schedule is always crowded with baseball practice. As the star pitcher for the varsity baseball team, it's not surprising that he has to work out multiple weekdays. Training after his usual practices also consumes most of his weekends. Whenever he doesn't have practice, he goes to school, then goes straight home and passes out on his bed. But now that school is over, and it's offseason for baseball, we can finally do something together. I'll call him to make sure he's available before jumping to conclusions.

I unplugged my phone from its charger, and opened my call log. I clicked Ethan's name, and waited for the phone to dial. The line rang two, going on three times. He must be asleep, it is an early morning for the weekend. I guess I'll try again later. As I was about to hang up, I heard him pick up.

A loud yawn could be heard from his end of the line. Oh no, I probably woke him up.

"Hey, Ethan! I'm sorry, did I wake you up?"

"No, it's alright. I don't mind waking up to my girlfriend's voice," he answered, groggily, still half asleep.

Though he couldn't see, I felt my face heating up. I pulled my knees to my chest and quietly screamed. It's like he always knows what I want to hear. Even though we don't get to hang out much, he's always charming. He'll never miss a beat to say anything nice, trying to make up for the time we can't hang. I smiled to myself, hopeful we could possibly get to spend the day together.

"If you aren't doing anything, do you want to do something today? It's a nice day outside and we haven't done much together, so I figured today would be good. If you aren't busy, of course." I closed my eyes, anticipating an answer I didn't want to hear. Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes.

I heard the shuffling of covers and a little bit of groaning. He was probably stretching to wake himself up more. I held my breath a little, hoping to hear him say he's available today.

 "That's cool. I don't have anything today."

I breathed out a sigh of relieve. A large grin spreading on my face. Finally! I can go out with my boyfriend! It feels like a dream, finally going out with Ethan- just the two of us. The thought of us being together made shivers run up my back. I'm so nervous and excited. Nervous because I didn't know what he would say to my next request.

"Ok, that's perfect, actually. I was thinking, maybe we could . . . go on a picnic?" I cringed at my request. It's not like he'll make fun of me or anything. It's just the fact I don't know how he feels about doing things like this. If he suggests something else, that's totally fine. I just want to be with him.

There was a long silence on his end, a little too long of a silence. Is that . . . snoring? Oh my gosh, he fell asleep again. I sighed, not surprised at all. It is a little early for the weekend. I'll cut him a little slack this time. But right now, this couldn't be pushed back.

"Ethan! Ethan, wake up!" I had to practically shout to wake him up.

I heard a snort, and his covers shuffling again. I'll hurry up and plan this and let him finish sleeping.
