“Hey babe what are you doing?” I turned around and looked right into my girlfriends beautiful dark brown eyes. I immediately felt butterflies in my stomach and started smiling. “Just trying to get this politics crap into my brain.” I answered, pulled her closer by the waist and started kissing her. The butterflies went crazy. I am so in love with her it is getting kind of ridiculous but I really don’t care. Suddenly a voice interrupted our little make-out session. “You two are so cute!” We split apart and saw our friend Riley. “It´s so unfair that you two are allowed kissing in the hallway but when I kiss my boyfriend every teacher that sees us, interrupts us.” “Well, maybe you should get yourself a girlfriend then. According to the new rules, you can not discriminate against LGBTQIA+ people and couples, so the teachers are scared to say something because they do not want to have a talk with the principal.” Sydney said. We giggled and she gave me another kiss but Riley disrupted us when I started touching Sydney’s arse. “Alright, that’s enough you two love birds. Remember we are still in school. No sex in the hallway! Not even gay couples are allowed to do that!” We broke off the kiss and looked at Riley. She didn’t see that my hand was still on Sydney’s arse and Sydney still held on to my waist. “Anyways, you guys know that I am straight. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t but you know it’s not a choice so here we are. Fooking heterosexual and in a happy straight relationship.” Of course, Riley had to protect her sexuality. I saw her making out with a girl the other week, which she probably didn’t tell Harrison about, but she said she didn’t like it. Which I absolutely do not understand. Probably because I am a lesbian. “We know Ry. You are as straight as a wooden ruler and we wouldn’t want that to change or else Harrison’s little heart will be shattered into a million pieces.” I said. We laughed and Hope came around the corner. “Hey Riles, Hey Syd!” she looked at me made a quick pause in her greeting but then said “Hey Lou!” and immediately turned back to Riley. She has been acting this weird for the past couple of weeks and I wonder if I did something wrong. “Have you heard the thing about Harrison?” she asked. “No? What thing?” Riley seemed confused. Honestly, I didn’t know what she was talking about either. “What are you talking about? Did something happen to him?” I asked. I looked at Riley, then at Sydney and then at Hope. “I haven’t heard anything!” Sydney took my hand and squeezed it three times which means “I love you” because she knows how much Harrison means to me. We have been friends since we were in our mom’s uterus’ so he is kind of like a brother to me that I never had. I only have three sisters which are all older than me. “I talked to Harry this morning. He was really happy and everything was fine. So I don’t know what you are talking about.” Riley said still looking really confused. “Okay good. Didn’t think you knew. It’s nothing that I can tell you so maybe you should go ask him yourself…” Hope said and walked away. Before leaving she gave me a smile. Maybe I should ask her what is going on. We used to be best friends but since junior year started a few weeks ago she is been acting really different. We haven’t really talked during the summer holidays but something must have happened. I looked after her and it must have been for a while because suddenly I heard Sydney’s voice again. “What was that about? First she asked if we heard anything and now we have to ask him ourselves. We don’t even know what we should ask him about.” I turned to Riley and Sydney again. “I have absolutely no idea. I’ll ask him after class what Hope could possibly have meant by that.” Sydney looked at me like she was sorry for me. “Baby I know Harry is like your brother but don’t you think Ry should talk to him first since she is his boyfriend?” “Oh sorry. Of course!” I said but I wasn’t too happy about it. When Harry told me that he liked Riley I was a little mad because I didn’t want him to date my friend but I knew that he has a pure heart and would never do anything that would hurt her. So I made my peace with it. I didn’t know what Hope was talking about but as his non-blood-related sister, I still felt like it’s my responsibility to make sure he is doing alright. All of a sudden I heard the school bell and we all went into our classes. We all had English but we all are in different classes. But before we left Sydney gave me one last kiss and all the butterflies came back once again.
