She only muttered, "I'm guessing you're not just any ol' demon are you?"

I let out a full blown laugh in response, before adding, "well I don't think a prince is just anyone, are they?"

Miu's POV:

Sakumo took a breath, grabbing his cup of tea, relishing the taste, before setting it back down and turning towards me.

I simply stared back in shock, processing everything that he had just said - I was a bit awestruck if anything - I mean my mother sounded like a badass if anything and the fact that this was all hidden to me before hand just left me gobsmacked.

"You really do make some of the most funniest facial reactions - you definitely get that from your father."

"Wait, you knew my father too?" I exclaimed, not believing how much more I had to learn.

"Of course I did, after all me, Shizuka and Tatsuo were quite the trio, if I do say so myself. I mean where did you think the origins of the term the three musketeers came from?"

"Wow, from what it seems, you guys have a lot of history." I slowly put, not really knowing what else to say.

"A lot is an understatement, but that's all I'll mention for now, I'll reveal the rest in due time." He calmly stated, taking this time to pick up a piece of millionaire shortbread and began to delicately devour it.

Yes, I'm very aware I said he just delicately devoured a biscuit. Seriously, there is no other way to put it. If a sentence could sum up Kazuhiro it would definitely be
an elegant, refined glutton.

"Anyway, getting back to the matters at hand, it would seem that boy you are quite fond of, is currently holding your body hostage at the moment." he states whilst taking another sip of his tea.

"Huh is that so- WAIT WHAT?
Well why aren't we doing anything about it?" I frantically say, clearly panicking and feeling extremely confused.

"Well that friend of yours, erm what was his name? Yui, Yuta, no that's not it - wait I think I've got it....YOICHI that's it! Right, so it seems like the demon within his weapon of choice is currently possessing him and is currently using your body as leverage as a means of defending himself, since he is most certainly outnumbered. Gotta say smart move on his partt."

"OI! You're not supposed to find the situation amusing ya know? We should be figuring out a way to help him and save me." I exasperatingly sigh, clearly not too impressed by the prince's passiveness towards the whole ordeal.

"Well yes we'll sort that out in a moment, but first we need to talk about the contract, if you really want me to deal with this matter." he cheekily grins knowing full well, time was currently not on the my side.

"Ugh seriously, can't we skip the formalities for the time being - I'm literally on the verge of death and I'm your best friends' daughter, like can't you cut me some slack?"

"No, sorry sweetheart, unfortunately that's not how it goes, no matter how important you are to me - I mean it would be hypocritical if I didn't follow through with my own protocol that I set, wouldn't it?"

"Fine, what's the terms?" I asked hurriedly, clearly wanting to get this done as soon as possible.

"Ahem, so...
Do you Miu, give me permission to to take possession of your body when I see it be absolutely necessary - usually depending on whether you being in grave danger, or meeting any old erm acquaintances let's say of mine?"

I looked at him, skeptical of the first term already.

"Oh come now, I promise you I wouldn't dare take advantage of my friends' daughter - I mean you're practically family.

I give you my word

that I, Kazuhiro Sakumo, promise to not possess you - until deemed absolutely necessary." he added seriously this time.

It didn't look like he was lying, but then again you never know. Eh what the hell, I don't really have time to stress, he seems genuine so might as well get on with it.

"I accept."

"Splendid. Right, secondly do you accept any training regimens that I will have to give you, seeing as clearly you're definitely going to have to train more in order to use my abilities."

I didn't really have to think too much about this one. I mean as long as I get stronger, to protect myself and my loved ones, then it works out pretty well.

"I accept."

"Marvellous. Lastly,"
he paused a moment, taking a deep breath before looking at me straight in the eye, in the most serious manner I've ever seen him in."

"Do you promise to wield my weapon and allow me to stand by your side, till the very end?"

Now this one definitely caught me off guard.

I tried to play it off with a joke by saying, "that sounds like a wedding vow ya know?"

His demeanour slightly relaxed and he allowed himself to chuckle before continuing, "Yes it does, doesn't it? However, it isn't anything of a romantic nature. I believe it's more of a way to express the idea of two friends who'll be there for each other till the bitter end. I mean, you are a part of the military, so no matter how optimistic you are, there is no absolute guarantee you will come out alive."

His eyes glossed with tears that only really showed loneliness and pain which in turn made me feel upset too. He took a light breath before continuing, "After all, it's the same promise, I made with your mother, so it's only fitting that you receive the same deal as well."

Now, I see what was wrong. Sakumo, after many years of what I assume was happiness, had to face the storm of loneliness there after, when all his friends passed on without him, whilst he continued on, waiting for me.

This time, there really wasn't any doubt left in me. After all, this was my parents' best friend, the one that had been waiting for me all this time, after many years. He in itself was the last remaining proof  of my parents themselves and somehow, I could see that they'd definitely want me to find him.

Ultimately, I chose the decision that really changed the course of my life.

For better, or for worse was really a matter of opinion, but I for one definitely new that Sakumo would become someone important to me overtime, so equally I wanted to end those years of solitude for him once and for all.

"I accept all your terms, Kazuhiro Sakumo." I confidently stated, whilst he looked incredibly shocked before a wide grin formed on his face.

"Well then, let the ritual begin..."
